as a seller, how far do you go with buyer feedback?
 

so we all know that selling feedback is way more important than buying feedback.

but from the other side, when looking through a buyer's eyes the overall rating of a seller does play some role...

for example, my newest account has 30 feedbacks and a "longtime member badge", but almost all of the buyers got about 100+ feedbacks so that makes me look very unprofessional.

my question is how many cheap stuff can I buy before the algorithm will potentially flag me for manipulative feedback?

my thinking was to get it to somewhere in the area of 80...

thoughts?

As a seller you need only feedback from sales. Make more sales and gain more feedback. No need to waste time and money to buy cheap items for feedback or worse to manipulate feedback.

80 Buyer feedbacks???
Worthless and pointless and if anything could get your account in trouble for feedback manipulation.
I wouldn't bother getting more than a few at the very beginning just to not have to sell with a zero feedback account.

yall seems surprised by this number so let me explain what I had in mind.

although feedback as a buyer does not play a big role for eBay, when a normal (aka not tech savvy people like us) person buys a product, he's only looking at the star icon near the name of the seller and the feedback rate. of course it depended on the price as well as the type of the product, but for our 20/30$
price range it does seems to be the case.

this is why I want to bring this star icon to a teal color or at the very least blue.

If your trying to pull in sales from the non tech savvy buyer, then the color of your star is not going to make much of a difference. I’m with Slokor. Just a few feedbacks at the start as not to have zero. I personally stay away from .99 cent e book purchases. I spend about $1.25 or so on physical items that require physical delivery.

its important but out of 20 buyers i think 1 would bother to leave a feedback
