Re: Do you trust buyers with 0 feedback?

I don't restrict buyers/bidders with 0 feedbacks because I've know that every1 has to start somewhere plus I just turn on auto report buyers/bidder who don't pay within 2 days....

Re: Do you trust buyers with 0 feedback?

You need to set your buyer requirements, it's in the account settings.

Nice bump of old thread. :thumb:

Always set your preferences before you make your listing.

Go to Accounts Settings, buyer preferences.

Cover as much as you can to control sales.

Good Luck

Re: Do you trust buyers with 0 feedback?

Unfortunately , there is no setting that can block a buyer based on feedback alone, except if they have a score of -1 or lower, but 0 is ok

But if you raise all the other preferences , like block buyers without verified paypal, who had 4 unpaid cases within ( and u choose 4 months,6m,)

Block buyers that are bidding or have purchased more than ( ) and u fill in there in a 10 day period

Set everything high and if someone gets blocked and is legit , they will contact you and you can make the decision

0 feedback buyers have to start somewhere, can't fear them all.

Re: Do you trust buyers with 0 feedback?

I have a pathetic 0 feedback buyer that bids on my items then withdraws the bid (test to see if they are blocked) then bidding not paying every single day, every single EB id for years. Just one item on each acct.
But then there's the 0 FB buyer that buys four or five hundred bucks worth in one sitting leaving top honor FB before arrival, same goes for BIN's... so such is life.

Re: Do you trust buyers with 0 feedback?

I see this is an old thread, but I personally havn't encountered too many problems with 0 feedback members.

It is the high feedback members, those who have been around a while and know the rules. Those are the ones to be wary of.

Dmshark25 08-30-2014 02:37 AM

Re: Do you trust buyers with 0 feedback?

I never had a problem with a 0 feedback buyer , when u see it the first reaction is always negative

But that's just because eBay is so nutts about feedback, feedback, feedback, but in reality it means nothing

Just a new buyer that should be welcomed

I set all my preferences the high rest possible, ship only to 48 states, no PO box . And not one problem

Re: Do you trust buyers with 0 feedback?

I've had two new buyers this week who decided they don't know how to measure themselves - I sell clothes.
One guy decided he wanted a long pair of trousers despite me stating the trousers were short. I had to contact him saying i did'nt have long pair just the ones advertised!
Another bought waist 30 in, jeans and then messaged me AFTER I posted them asking if they would fit her as she usually bought size 10. How the Fxxx should I know!!?
Needless to say they were returned.
I looked at her feedback and she was new to ebay about a month and was doing this to loads of sellers - buying stuff that did'nt fit her. Since Christmas I've had some real morons buying from me.
She seemed to think that she should receive her refund before the item got back to her buyers ans was using feedback to send messages!

Re: Do you trust buyers with 0 feedback?

The most common problem with newbies to ebay is the fact they don't pay or regret that's why I request immediate payments for all of my listings.
This will save you time and unnecessary fees for those ridiculous crooks e&ay

luverlyjuberly 02-12-2015 12:31 PM

Re: Do you trust buyers with 0 feedback?

Well the guy that wanted long trousers told me to send the long trousers -the ones I kept telling him were short - he was most insistent so I have sent him the short trousers. If they get returned he will NOT get his postage costs back (send OR return), he'll get a partial refund.

Re: Do you trust buyers with 0 feedback?

well you were zero once upon a time when you made your account, so need to be tolerant...

the buyers you need to worry about are the many questions ones, they are neurotic and complaining types, I always sense trouble and usually right, not always but more often than not....

BigCJ 12-03-2015 09:21 AM

Re: Do you trust buyers with 0 feedback?

Depends on the value of an item for me.

Cheap items under $45 I dont care.

Anything higher than that, the minimum is 10 feedback

Re: Do you trust buyers with 0 feedback?

Why fear 0 feedback buyers? every day, new people join ebay and those people have money to spend or want to buy......I welcome their money. If anything I fear the person who may have 1,000+ positive feedback and knows exactly what to say in order to get an item for free.

Exactly.

I think people fear 0 feedback buyers because people use those accounts to scam in the high end electronics categories.

You know the ones "if I pay you $100 more than the asking.price can you send to my.uncle in Nigeria"

Just stick to seller protection rules and 0 feedback buyers won't cause you issues. Use.common sense.

Re: Do you trust buyers with 0 feedback?

There are a lot of zero feedback buyers now because of 'Guest Checkout'... Not sure if its possible with auctions, however on BIN I get loads of them.

At this point I have started ignoring feedback... Why worry about problems that have not happened yet... If you have all your settings inline, non-paying bidder automation, ship with proper tracking, etc... You are pretty much clear of most scammers... Some just know the system so well that there is no work around.

Hercules 12-04-2015 02:36 PM

Re: Do you trust buyers with 0 feedback?

A good one is to tell them you are visiting a friend in their area and you would like to meet to fix the problem with the purchased item. Spooky

Re: Do you trust buyers with 0 feedback?

It annoys when buyers with 0 feedback ruin auctions.

Re: Do you trust buyers with 0 feedback?

I had a non-arrival and the seller told me her husband was a policeman and he had posted it from the police station. I thought hmm I must start using this with my own dodgy buyers who claim non-arrival.

I will take a 0 account feedback over a florida buyer or a california buyer all damn day. Biggest scammers are in florida or california.

I will give change to this buyer. I can claim chargeback from Paypal if item not receive.

Nice necreo thread :P

10% of my buyers are 5 fb or less. Think - they might have found your listing on google and made an account just to buy your item

Impossible to block them unless you are running auctions.

Same here. eBay needs to allow this imo

I cant imagine they'll ever block those with 0 feedback. That's essentially saying those new / guest buyers are not allowed to buy items.

Sometimes we have to trust on 0 feedback.
It all depends on product image, descriptions, price. Your judgment also counts alot when you buy from 0feedback account.

Worked with eBay before, and for me, it's better to trust a buyer with a 0 feedback than a seller with the same rating. I mean I understand that maybe that certain someone is still starting, but I've been there and done that, so yeah.

Jeffie 11-19-2018 10:05 PM

Re: Do you trust buyers with 0 feedback?

We can't really say that we need not trust them because maybe they had just started their account. But, if you ask me, I will make business with them still, anyways we can always make an appeal if ever this bunch would try to outsmart us by possibly or maybe filing a SNAD or INR case against us. It can happen, but so long as you have your proofs ready the case manager or the appeals team will surely favor you.

Even buyers with plenty of feedbacks can still outsmart you. Regardless the rating or the feedback count, buyers or sellers may still have their ways of fooling around. My say on this is just maybe have a leap of faith. Not all buyers who has 0 feedback is a SCAM, same goes with not all buyers with 100 feedback is LEGIT.

Buyers with 0 feedback can be a risk to deal with, but as high as the risk in dealing with them is as highas the risk dealing with long time buyers in this platform. I mean tenured buyers already knew the in's and out's of eBay so they can easily manipulate anything.

That's right, but maybe his concern is what if it's a new account and it's a SCAM. Though for me, this is business and dealing with people like them is one of the risks that we have to take.

Let's be honest, most sellers on this forum are not newbie sellers. Most of us know most of the scams, and most of us know how to deal with those scammers. People sometimes overthink the simple things.

Re: Do you trust buyers with 0 feedback?

had very unpleasant experience on e bay -sold electric scooter-two wheels ..buyer claimed on e bay he didnt get it ..tracking shows delivered..ebay closed that first claim..buyer then goes to open paypal claim for the same reason..pay pal rejected and closed his claim for the second time ..he then opens not authorized transaction claim -paypal closed that one too...buyer then proceed to open claim for not as described item and requested return..I had to accept return..I got empty box through DHL..buyer finally got his money back !!!after abusing 4 different reasons for refund ..I appealed to paypal got nowhere ..buyer even scanned my original label and photoshoped it to show different name on it as recipient ...searched net for the same situation and I can see its all pretty common scam ...how to fight it ????
