Hi guys i just wondered what kinda ratio your feedback received is when compared to sales made.

For me its around 1 feedback received for every 3 sales made.
e.g. 1:3

Im asking so i can make a guestimate on how many sales the average seller makes per day by looking at their feedback received. i.e. if i see a seller has 50 feedbacks received per day then i can guestimate s/he makes around 150 sales per day.

Yes I have exactly the same problem at the moment! No one is leaving feedback but WHY!?

For every 100, I usually only get a ratio of 1:5. Once in awhile, i get 30% feedback.

I used to try leaving feedbacks for every buyer first in hope that more would reciprocate. Didnt really make a difference but in the process, I did get quite a few extortionists ("If you want me to give you +ve, you have to give me extra...").

I'd say 1:3 aswell in 300 sales i'd get 90-120 fb.

Anyway, I receive about 2/3rds - 2 feedbacks for every three items sold.

I think the hand written Thank You letters and Free Gifts I include in the packages does a lot to boost my feedback ratio.

I'm getting about 2/3rd's feedback, Like TGMT² says, thank you letters really help. I don't do free gifts but I might go that route also.

Giving tips for us "1:3 sellers" like writing thank you notes are more than welcomed :-)

i average close to 3:3 but thats because i email them send them a message through ebay and a include a note inside each package asking for 5 stars and positive feedback this seems to be working so far since ive started dooing it

the best way is to keep message the buyer to leave fedback,this is the good way,i agreed with hacktec,keep mesg him till the buyer leave feedback..

I get the 1/3 feedback when I dont message the buyer to leave any feedback. When I message them about leaving some kind of feedback it's closer to 50%.

Im thinking of leaving notes from now on...maybe not handwritten ones as i'll go through a lot of crayons very quickly, maybe i will print a note on sticky labels and then stick in on the items...without damaging the item, obviously ;-)

I get about 1:3 too.
I notice that if they get the items for cheaper (lucky auction) or if it is a low cost item, they tend to be very happy with the item and leave glowing and very happy feedback.
I get 1:4-1:5 when the auction closes at higher price.

After I started to message them to inform about the item despatch, delivery time, and ask them to leave positive feedback when they get it, I seem to get a bit more.

I think thank you notes would really help too. I'll look into implementing that.

Yeah, I tried leaving them positive feedback too and that was very unfruitful. I will not do that again. No feedback for me, no feedback for you too. :twisted:

These can work well - something courteous.

i remember back in the day it used to be 70% now im finding it around 30% on SOME accounts

i find that feedback seems to come easier on older established accounts

not sure if ebay are manipulating the figures but ive emailed buyers chasing feedback and several times ive got the "ive already left you feedback" reply wjhenits not showing

So roughly most people are saying 1 feedback for every 3 sales.
Thats about the same as me on most accounts.

So when i look at other sellers and see they have on average 20 feedback per day im estimating they make around 60 sales per day. Now I can work out their average monthly/annual turnover and approximate their profits.

It gives me an idea of where i stand in the marketplace and also what I should be aiming for.

That's very strange.
I don't think that eBay would manipulate feedback actually.
They can't possibly be so free and I don't see much reason for them doing so.
More likely its the buyer does not want or can't be bothered to leave feedback and just gave you that answer to stop you bugging.
I used to ask them for feedback and most of them just ignored me and I never wrote to them again.
I don't think buyers like getting emails asking them for feedback so I've stopped doing that.
I'm gonna add thank you notes in my packages in future.
The best way to get more feedback is to list more and sell more.
That is the only thing within your control.

This decline in feedback seems to be a general trend.

yes, an increasing number of "dont read the descriptio, i want it yesterday and cant be bothered with any of the other stuff" buyers IMO

Well, this is the obvious reason.
But what is the underlying reason, the real root cause??
Why are buyers like this today when they were not like this 10 years ago?
Even 3-5 years ago.

Is this a new group of buyers or have people's online consumption habits changed? And what caused it?
Is it because of eBay or because of sellers or both??
Is it because of society, pace of life, stress of life??
Is it because of the financial crisis, which makes people more preoccupied with finding ways to make more money, save more money and have no time for such small stuff?

Doesn't it make you wonder?
As a seller, I am always curious about consumer behavior - this is what my business is about!

We have no control over some factors like the financial crisis, etc., but we are able to modify some factors if we know what's the cause of the problem.
