| | | imjustme | 05-19-2008 07:57 AM | Neutral feedback now counts against you Seriously. I just found this today. Apparently eBay is now converting neutrals you received in the past into a "-1" score. I just checked on a new seller account which had 1 positive feedback and 1 neutral feedback (+2 before). I now have a +1 there and a 50% positive, because 1 buyer decided to give me a neutral saying "all good but the package took a bit long due to customs".
So because of slow customs, a stupid buyer that is happy and because eBay decides to convert neutrals into negatives, I now have a feedback score of 50% and an effectively ruined seller account? I mean, who's going to buy something from someone with a 50% positive? |
| terryp | 05-19-2008 09:28 AM | Actually this was reported as change of policy by eBay in July last year..looks like it's just been implemented |
| 411guru | 05-19-2008 09:41 AM | I know. Can we still do mutual withdrawals? I have 13 neutrals on my main account. |
| imjustme | 05-19-2008 10:46 AM | Nope, they're removing feedback withdrawals too. So if a buyer jumps the gun and leaves a negative ...or simply ticks the wrong box by accident, it'll stay there forever. |
| mantisinc | 05-19-2008 11:14 AM | Yea this came into action a few weeks ago in the UK. Totally defeats the point on Neutral.
It's actually unfair. Say a buyer buys an item, it's out of stock, and you send them a refund. They leave you a neautral.
You sell someone a faulty item, refuse to refund them, they leave you a neg.
Out of the two situations, the feedback counts as the same, despite in one you've got a reasonablly happy customer, and the other, and thoroughly pissed off one.
Really doesn't make sense. |
| becca073 | 05-19-2008 02:44 PM | Neutral feedback now counts against you It must have just started cause I use to have 100%. Now I have like 98.3% cause they count neutrals in their new way of calculating feedback. What a bunch of BS. |
| imjustme | 05-19-2008 02:56 PM | Yeah, eBay believes a 'neutral' means a negative. I've had buyers give me neutrals for delays in customs clearance and for no reason. Now they're counted as negatives and making me look like a bad seller. |
| gotgameplan | 05-19-2008 03:56 PM | Lmao went to sleep with 100% woke up this morning 96.3 % wth no negs only 3 neutrals EBAY WILL PAY! |
| becca073 | 05-19-2008 04:27 PM | Yep 1 neutral & it dropped to 98.3%. That is such rubbish. |
| gotgameplan | 05-19-2008 04:30 PM | Boycott Feedback; Don't Leave Any Feedback At All No Matter What. Why Should Our Free Speech Be Taken Away...
Ebay Is Not Allowing Us Our Constitutional Right To Free Speech (this Is The United States We Have Rights).
This Is Wrong And I Will Not Be Leaving Feedback Ever Again. Why Would You Want To Boost Up The Feedback For The Buyers...why? |
| jscan | 05-19-2008 06:32 PM | all these changes at once is sure going to hit sellers pretty hard, first the paypal being the only option in australia, now these bs feedback changes, argh |
| 411guru | 05-19-2008 09:40 PM | My powerseller account went form 99.7 to 96.3!!!!!! Cuz I have 13 neutrals. Now I know why some sellers gave negatives to buyers who left them neutrals, so that the buyers would want to do a mutual withdrawal. |
| ebayhateluv | 05-19-2008 11:15 PM | 411: Be careful.. Youve gotta maintain a certain % to keep that PS status.. |
| GreenBean | 05-20-2008 12:04 AM | Recap on Feedback Have I told any of you I hate paypal? Almost decided that I hate ebay as well.
Here's what feedback is about with the words spoken by Bill Cobb. A Message from Bill Cobb – New Pricing and Other News
Scroll half way down the page to read what is said. Looking at this I perceive ways to still work feedback.... read it very carefully and apply what is written to your own accounts. |
| mantisinc | 05-20-2008 03:53 AM | One guy that I was going to buy something off had something like 88% feedback, so I thought against buying from him.
Looks at his actual feedback, he'd had barely any feedbacks in the past 12 months, those he did have were happy positivies, and 1 neutral saying "Was a shame the item wasn't my size - returned for a refund."
The neutral malarky has to be one of the most stupid enforcements yet. |
| Skudrulacis | 05-20-2008 06:40 AM | it's not fair to us... very many people don't give a positive feedback just because there is some problems with mail service |
| becca073 | 05-20-2008 01:22 PM | Whats worse is the removal of feedback except for 12 months worth. This one seller had 600 yesterday and now is down 114. |
| imjustme | 05-20-2008 01:35 PM | I'm gonna laugh my butt off if someone with 20,000 feedback takes a break for a year to enjoy his profits, then comes back onto eBay with 0 feedback :D :D :D |
| Jonas | 05-20-2008 04:01 PM | eBay did that horrid thing and they blocked sellers from leaving negs TWO MONTHS EARLY.
But eBay is LATE on getting rid of the negs from suspended members. |
| GreenBean | 05-20-2008 05:19 PM | I have been watching several accounts {not mine} since this all started. Checking one
yesterday of a power seller with over 19,000 transactions now has a less than perfect score. The overall total has been canned by a buyer being unhappy with a US$9.99 item
that had free shipping. Distressing to read. |
| hateebaymorethanyou | 05-20-2008 06:19 PM | Somebody paid me on Wednesday night - 9pm .. wanted item by Saturday even though I state right in my auctions that it takes 2 business days to ship. I shipped the next day - priority mail ( even though I charge for 1st class mail and state that in the auction too! ) .. the item got to them on MONDAY and I was left a neutral feedback which of course now counts as a negative.
HOW was this my fault???? I sure won't keep my PS status long at this rate. :( |
| ebayisanecessaryevil | 05-20-2008 06:59 PM | It STINKS!!!
I look at it this way, and it's probably naively optimistic- there will be hardly anyone with 100% positive as a seller, so the average score will be lower, and maybe having less than 100% won't be so bad.
I've received neutrals that read simply "received item, thank you" The person had no beef, that's just how they decided to leave feedback.
AND- I received my first negative inspired by the new rules. And it went predictably like this:
The buyer was so proud of herself. She didn't like her item and I refunded her. A MONTH AGO- There's a lot of ridiculous machinations I endured with this psycho in the meantime which I won't get into.
Today I get the childish negative feedback and an email bragging how she waited for the new rules to leave me negative feedback so she wouldn't get one in return. Good for her. Meanwhile, she still lives a pathetic existance and nothing has really changed in her sad reality. | | All times are GMT -5. The time now is 10:01 AM. | |
