Sellers Selling 5-Star Feedback ??

I recently stumbled on several sellers selling 100% 5-star feedback and some of these auctions start at .01 while most are buy-it-now for .99.

Checking the sellers feedback history shows some have been doing this for over a year now.

The even weirder part is, some of the buyers already have up to 3,600 feedback's and even they are buying in these feedback only auctions.

Each auction clearly states that you are buying the feedback only. There is no attempt to disguise what you are actually getting.

This is eBay legal ??

When a prospective buyer checks out a sellers feedback history and see's this seller is buying their feedback rating doesn't that make this seller look a bit like a joke. ??

I'm surprised to hear this, never thought something like this would fly on eb. They must be too busy trying to find my accounts.

I'm hoping the Mod's here don't move this post to the "ebay feedback" section due to not many newbie's going there as compared to "eBay Discussion".

Seems to me that newbies should be made aware of not falling victim to these sales which might just get their own account flagged.

I agree with vetman90.

NO, this is NOT allowed by eBay. They call it "feedback manipulation". A few sellers may be able to get away selling feedback for awhile, but eventually they will be caught. If you bought something from one of their listings, you will receive a warning - at best - and have your account closed - at worst.

It is best not to get involved with this sort of thing.

I remember this happening years ago, but it was a bit different since it wasn't as openly stated what the real purpose of the listing was. You basically bought an "ebook" for 99 cents about how to get good feedback on Ebay and positive feedback would be left for the buyer after you left the seller positive feedback. More often than not, you never even received any ebook in an email.

Then Ebay cracked down on that and started banning those sellers and buyers. Looks like it's coming back again. But be sure that once Ebay does start cracking down on it again, they will ban both the buyers and sellers and you'll waste your account.

Ya, a lot of 1 cent coupons and stuff just to build feedback.

As soon as eBay find out about the people who are selling the 5 star feedback, they will also track down who's bought the feedback from them and most likely shut the sellers and the buyers account down!

NEWBIES STAY AWAY!!

Doubtful eBay would go back and ban buyers accounts. It's just not a recommended practice.

Never say never with eBay, if they find a reason to take your account down like buying feedback which is surely against there rules then it is quite possible!

So your giving the go ahead for people to do this? I would say stay well away as it's not worth taking the chance.

There's a lot of auctions selling penny coins for 1p, collection only. It's pretty clear these are for 5-star feedback, but does buying them put my real account at risk?

Of course it does! If they ban the seller they may ban you for conspiring to do feedback manipulation.

Re: Sellers Selling 5-Star Feedback ??

All it will take is one eBay member to report this auction for their own reasons and now eBay humans take a look. Personally I don't think they would shut this seller down right away. Local pick up is fine. Ebay may MC999 this seller for a while and put the seller through the toughest data base drill though.

A legitimate seller account could pass that easy but a stealth ? I don't think so.

Ebay is really good at making a new account sweat before they move in for the kill.

Re: Sellers Selling 5-Star Feedback ??

You can't outright sell feedback. However, I have noticed that some of the Chinese sellers especially auction off items at a penny with free shipping. Basically to offset the lower DSRs they get on the other items they try sell. I won't lie about it I have used this to my advantage to get cheap items to build new stealths as buying account which down the road I convert to selling accounts.

But you guys are absolutely right. Selling 5 star feedback is a direct policy violation. Some people use to get away with this 4-8 years ago. Now the way eBay works with all its algorithms and what not. Those accounts are very short lived.

yeah, this doesnt work at all. Best advice is to purchase .99 cents from top high chinese suppliers who have feedback pro set up. Once you purchase an item you get feedback within a minute. I use it when starting a new stealth, get 10 feedback really easy and quick

TOO many of these purchases can land you into trouble too - eB will accuse of feedback manipulation or other policy violations...just be careful.
