Advice on how to build up defect rate

I currently have a defect rate of 6.3%, which has now lowered my search result ranking for my items and thetefore pretty much destroyed my sales...and until I build it back to <5% im in this ****hole.
My selling limits are at 70k/month. I was netting profit between $400-500/day before this happened.
I calculated I need 70 transactions without any complaints to get back to <5%.
Can someone recommend me a way to get this? Possibly sell lots of cheaper dollar store items?
Another question....if I sell lots of cheaper items in an effort to reach those 70 sales and get my defect rate back to a healthy state, would it still work if these items are in a completely different category than the items that I was selling which got me the bad defect rate in the first place?
Thanks for any advice

You can a lot of cheap items and hopefully it works but you should take care of what got you to this point.

Its pretty easy to get back to green, if you have decent sales already and enough stock to "bite the bullet". Based on what you take per day, you shouldn't have a problem focusing on transactions, rather than sales- Just pick an item that you have most of or an item that you hardly get problems with and drop the price and bite the bullet.

I usually pick a product that I never have problems with, only because its safer to sell. Otherwise you might end up selling well and not earning any profit, but then 1 or 2 cases go against you, meaning you will end up in the same situation. Just pick a safe item.

Long term, you should really see where you've accumulated such defect % and try to weed out problematic products or procedures.
Might be worth dropping certain lines, if they are causing you problems and replace them with something that has brighter future.

No-reserve low starting price 1 day auctions and amazing customer service even if you loose a little money can get you around visibility/search results and gain your transactions.

It doesn't matter in which category you sell. This formula takes all transactions in proportion with your defected transactions.

Sell expensive NON-BRANDED, China-style (to avoid possible veros) phone cases (the ones which usually go for 4 -5 usd), for 0.99 usd, and you will get your ratings back in no time. It will cost you like 300 bucks, but as I understood, it is less than your regular daily profit.

You can also sell low-end handcrafted "Crap" for fast feedback

I agree, I typically bite the bullet on a few items every week just so I can get the feedback from the customers and just make the money back with another product.

I do such "spacer" sales non-stop in my main accounts, so even if I get struck by a retarded buyer, it won't hurt me alot.

Yep, got to find a spacer item that nobody can debate. Like if you sell Golf Clubs, yeah that is a touchy one but just popped in my mind, buy a case of practice plastic balls and just break even. Easy shipping and hard to complain about condition haha. Well someone will always find a way but just an idea.
