Can't Pay eBay Fees Via PayPal
 

I used a tracfone to create this PayPal account a few months ago and then after a while switched over to using a google voice when I called into PayPal.

I no longer have the tracfone with the number that I created the PayPal with.

I can log into PayPal and do everything just fine but if I try to pay my eBay fees via PayPal they insist that I verify my identity by receiving a call or text at the number that I no longer have.

I then purchased a brand new tracfone and added it to PayPal and it confirmed just fine. Now I go to pay my eBay fees again and it says that I can't use this new number as it is not in my name despite it being my primary number on PayPal.

So I need to pay my eBay fees without logging into PayPal at all. I usually have PayPal pull the money from my bank accounts to pay fees (I see a lot of posts here saying that doing this is bad but I have never had any issues).

So the question is do I pay via bank transfer through eBay's site instead? I have also never used a prepaid card to pay before so that could be an option but I would imagine that it would still take me through PayPal to do so. The only other option might be a money order?

What should I do?

You will not be able to use that phone number for verifications for several months.
That's just how it works with paypal.
You can use a prepaid gift card directly on ebay without having to go through paypal. Sounds like itll be your best bet at this point.

Thanks, what type of card do you recommend? Good thing it wasn't the 5,000 account I just bought from you lol.

Similiar happened to me this week, i called paypal, told them i no longer have that number. They asked some questions from the credit file. i.e old addresses, bank accounts i have then changed something on their end so the new number worked. Happened a while ago too and they asked they changed the question to confirming my card number .

Both succeeded. People change phone numbers, paypal know this.

Sometimes users do not have their personal details. That makes for dramas.

Hope the OP can sort the issues.
