Default eBay Says I Owe them $2k in Fees?!?

So I had an account suspended back in May. I paid off all of the fees on it back then. The other day a friend of mine had his account linked to mine because he used my PayPal address. He called them up and they said that I owed them $2000 in fees. I don't think I've sold more than $5K or so so I don't no what they're talking about. I haven't been called by a collection agency over the past 6 months, nor do I have any emails saying I owe them cash. Also, I never closed the bank accounts, PayPal account, or credit card linked to that account. What do you think is wrong and what should I do?

Thanks

Why don't you ask eBay?

Give them a ring.

I'm thinking about that, but since it doesn't seem like they're coming after me I figure it may be better to just ignore it.

hmm... they shouldnt or wouldnt share that kind of imformation with your friend???

sounds fishy...

Call them and ask for proof, but in the meantime get your proof that you paid them off already.

What do I have for proof though? I can pull up that I paid via PayPal from my account, but I definitely never had $2k in fees and I don't really see how I can prove that. I think the only reason they shared the info with my friend is because they linked the accounts. I'm not sure whether to call them or not because most of my items were vero or otherwise against their policies. I'm done with that now though and only sell legit.

Another perfect example why we say to never use a friends information in either direction.

Do not use a friends or families info or do not allow a friend of family member to use yours.

Maybe the friend has more then one account linked and you do not know it.

DO NOT IGNORE this matter. If they want they will take it from your bank account and/or credit card. So yea call them ASAP!!

Once they tried to take $83 from a linked bank account I had with a PP account. They tried to take it out 3 times but they was a zero balance on the account and the bank refused to process the transaction. I later closed the account and never logged into that EB or PP account again, there was negative $83 in it. A few times I would log into the email address linked with the PP account, they still send me emails of what I owe them.

Untrue. If you authorize Eb to deduct PP funds for fees, then yes they will try to debit your bank account a million times. If you ever auth Eb to take PP money out you want to cancel the preauth in PP right away. If Eb doesn't have the Preauth, they do not charge the credit card or bank account in PP.

Well the thing is they haven't touched my Bank Account, PayPal, Debit, or Credit Card yet and they have all that info. All of those accounts still exist, including the PayPal, which is verified and has no limit. So they really could have just taken the money back in May.

Also, I don't get emails from them saying I owe them anything. Last time, I logged into the account, maybe a month after it was banned, it said I had no balance.

Not a chance anyone used my info. Also, the guy who I let use my PayPal which linked the accounts in the first place, has never sold anything on eBay, only bought.

If this is real info you need to take care of it.

They use two different collectors who wont stop at getting the money.

Stealth, close the account and go on.

It is real info. However, like I said my PP account is authorized and they haven't touched the cash in it. They also have my debit card and they haven't bothered with that either. I haven't been contacted by any collections agencies either.
I don't think I'm going to contact them.

Since you are claiming this info came from an alleged friend, a third party, and you have no other proof, get legal advice in case you are being scammed.

You are going to look very very silly should you end up with a bill for $2000 approx and you choose to ignore it based on internet converstations.

You have an obligation to your own credit rating to be more responsible.
