Didnt pay ebay fees.. now blocked...
 

Need a little advice from the experts ;)

Ok, i owed ebay £420 on a old ebay account which i didnt pay for nearly 1 year now. The account is 'BLOCKED' when i log in with a option to pay the fee.

So the question, if i pay the fee will the account be reinstated straight away?

No it won't, it will suspended due to no payment for a long time.

Okay, can you confirm how long is a 'long time'?

According to ebay website it states it will be reinstated instantly as long as there are no other issues on the account.

Well...I went to Germany for 3 months when I get back I had letters coming and my doors that I need to pay 100 pounds to eBay. I paid that then I went to live chat to sell again, but they told me that I can't sell anymore on Ebay because of no payment. 3 Months it was for me.

hmm, ive spoken to live chat before in the past and they said they cant accept payment because its now with a debt collection agency, so couldnt/wouldnt tell me i could have the ebay account reinstated.

Mixed answers to this issue all over the net. very confusing.

They will NOT give you your account back but they WILL lie to you to get you to pay the money off.

100% correct.

They will tell you what you want to hear to get your money and drop you like a rock.

If you don't pay they will eventually pass your details over to debt collectors.

There is ZERO chance of being able to sell on that account again. Many people here have been in the same boat as you - they have not used eBay for some time, have unpaid fees and now want to sell on eBay.

So, they call eBay and the rep tells them that the only account issue is the unpaid fees, so if paid, the account will go back to normal.

HOWEVER - I have never heard of that actually happening. Either the account is only good as a buyer account, is totally blocked, or is initially restored but then blocked several hour later. NOBODY has ever chimed in and said, "yeah, I paid and they gave me the account back".

You also have to look at this from eBay's perspective. Probably 80% of the unpaid fees it writes off are NEVER paid. And they do not know a lot about you. But, they DO know that you had an unpaid bill for 420 GBP which is a decent amount of money. They are likely thinking that you will stick them again down the road, or worse, that they will have to honor buyer protection claims that will never be paid. In other words, they see you as a risk now.

Think of the consequences of an account with trap info going to them

When you agreed to sell paying fees was part of the deal

I have had a different experience. Had uk account -sold up -came here -had credit cards pinched at arrival in Oz. Cancelled all cards hence all fees could not be paid -fees from selling cars, furniture etc.Never gave ebay/paypal a thought when the cards went. Months down the line good old Grandad was getting debt collecting letters -went on for at least 6 months -dug head in sand thinking it would all go away. Eventually got round to dealing with it a few months after a few more letters -due to post being redirected to grandads and did not want to bug him with it. Anyhow -couple of years later -still got the account and buy and sell on it. Even verified uk paypal last month as got old drivers and on line bank account. I did have to fax them to them.
