Ebay Fvf (final Value Fee) Increase Starting 9/16/08

I'm sure most of you know now that New Policy Changes are about to be implemented. I have received Emails from ebay regarding the updates but not for the Final Value Fees. You have to go and look for the changes yourself. Final Value Fees are Now up to 12% to 15% for Fixed price items. WOW that is more than your ebaystore FVF. We can't do nothing about this as this is the norm for ebay. The Big Picture is that Ebay wants us to raise our Fixed Price (So they can collect more FVF), Give Free Shipping and add the shipping cost to the Fixed Price (So Ebay can Collect more FVF again). We can't raise our shipping cost to offset the FVF becasue there will be shipping limits placed. For those who don't know, Ebay doesn't charge FVF on your shipping charges.

I know this will save sellers who have hard to sell items on relisting fees but this will hurt majority of the sellers who don't have any problems selling their items the first time listing. I have no problems selling my stuff on fixed price listings and now Ebay is forcing me to raise my Fixed Price to make up for the Loss in Profits from their FVF.

AM I THE ONLY ONE UPSET? WHAT ARE YOUR THOUGHTS?

+1 insightful
Thank you.

So no point in waiting until September 16 before listing lots of fixed price items.

Is that more expensive then Amazon now?

BooMer 08-25-2008 08:42 AM

I don't sell on Amazon but I just took a look on their website for the fees and it seems both Ebay and Amazon are Neck and Neck in the race to become the # 1 Fee Raiser of the Year.

So FVF is only being raised for fixed price style? And what is the increase for AUction style listings. As of now i do a 2:1 ratio for auction style as the insertion is lower and i can add a BIN that only cost a fraction of fixed price. But with fixed price insertion being cheap now i might have to rework my plan on listing but it depends on what the FVF is for Aution style.

EBAY MOTORS FEE JUST INCREASED.

I just sold my car back in August and the listing fee was $40 and $40 Final value Fee.

I just listed my other car in the beginning of September and to my surprise the Fees have been increased to $125 Flat.

The up side is you get 4 free listings in a 12 month period to sell your car. But still ebay made an extra $45.

The Fees NEVER STOPS

Get ready fellow Ebayers. Shipping Limits will soon start in October.

You either have to give Free Shipping or Charge the set Ebay "maximum" shipping charge for certain categories.
Even though it cost more to ship your items you won't be able to charge for it. That doesn't even make sense Ebay...

I just Listed some stuff and the actual shipping will cost me around $15.00 and soon I will have to charge $4.00 per Ebay Shipping Limits Policy.
Don't assume the buyers is willing to bid higher on your items because of this Stupid Policy.

Here is the Ebay message you will see:

"Starting in October, the maximum shipping cost in this category will be $4.00. You'll be asked to enter a shipping cost less than or equal to this cost for the first U.S. flat rate shipping service.

Get a head start on these changes by updating your shipping costs for this listing "

That was on books right? I got the same warning. What if theyre big ass bible books hahaha, Gods not going to deliver them himself for $4.00. Not that I believe in god or anything.

But anyways, if thats for books I totally agree eBay wasnt thinking too clearly on this one.

Yes that was for 30 BooKs that I was getting rid of. Ebay doesn't know the difference between 10oz and 10lb unless they know of a cheaper shipping method that they are not telling us.

eBay's new shipping policy

Yep - it is unbelievable. My kid just sold a pair of jeans to someone in Canada. He used eBay's shipping calculator and -without insurance - the actual cost was $4.80 more than he collected for shipping. This is yet another example of eBay sticking it to the Seller. It's like they hate us. Do they not teach the concept of keeping the Customer Happy at Yale Business School?
