Please Help Fee for closed listing
 

Occasionally I buy and sell stuff on eBay, recently I listed some old coins for selling and some customers who placed the bids, informed me that these coins are not original, even some buyers threatened me of legal action. There were 5 coin listings involved, all with a starting price of $.99 & the same bidders pumping the prices up, one to a maximum of $7800. I may have been had by a cadre of coin dealers who knew what they were doing. So I tried to cancel the bids but could not, therefore immediately removed the listing to avoid any problem.

Now eBay has invoiced me for those cancelled listing amounting around $ 4000.00, I am really upset on this because this is unjust and I am not in position to pay it. I tried to convince eBay but they denied my request.

Please advise is there a way I can avoid this penalty I am a poor person and do not have that much amount with me.

Was it the same bidders whole informed you the coins were not original who were bidding high and pushing the prices up? Maybe you should just have left the listings up and let the auctions run their course, they would have had to pay at the end and if they did not then they would have in trouble with ebay. How convinced we're you that the coins were original as well?

Yes the buyer was the same who was bidding and then asked me to remove the listing. I took the coins to a collector and he confirmed they are not original.
