My friend died, let me start eBay account w her info
 

Hello, I've been selling on ebay for about 18 months or so.

My friend let me start an account with her info. She opened a checking account for me to use for managed payments. She just died :(

How can I keep selling? I'm assuming I'm going to lose the checking account. Everything in perfect standing at the moment. Her son who I've never met will be taking care of all her affairs and I doubt he would add my name to the checking account.

open your own bank acct and add it. Shouldnt be a problem.
On a sidenote - just out of respect for a deceased friend id stop using such an account. Also, only a matter of time before ebay catches on given her SSN is associated with the acct.

if you add your own bank account they will ask for a new social and name change etc.

if there isn't any money on the account he might not close it, you'd have to talk to him

how do you withdraw money from your friend's checking account when she was alive?
Not a good idea to keep using her Ebay account and bank account,her son will be settling her estate,if she owes IRS tax,it could seize her fund in any account with her SSN-bank account,paypal account and more

Thanks for the responses.

There is only $50 or so in there now which I'm just going to leave.

She gave me the debit card to withdraw funds.

I paused all the listings, I guess I'm done with it.

That is incorrect.
Add the new bank acct using the micro deposits method and there shouldnt be any issues - they wont know the name is different and there wont be a need for a new SSN.

Would converting it to a business account be of any help? When I set up the account at her house I asked her for the info e.g. SS which I never wrote down. So I'm screwed if I ever have to re-enter that.

Yes it would be.
The tax impact would be diverted to the LLC entity instead of hitting a deceased person.
Would probably help the account last.
