paypal is back on ebay as payment method
 

ok I exaggerated a little , it is not back but I talked to an ebay agent today and there is interesting news

ebay decided to make managed payments a payment system allowing third party payments. presumably it means that managed payments will become a copy of paypal

I wouldnt necessarily consider info from an eb "agent" as always true and up to date

not really , they have already started sending messages about account upgrade. my personal account was upgraded and their email clearly said that it was upgraded to a new payments account capable of sending payouts on demand and third party payments

curiously the upgrade also locked me out of my account and asked to confirm SMS with no other options to log in

the on demand option has already appeared by the way so that it is now possible to deactivate automated withdrawals and withdraw manually , just like on paypal. and if nothing is withdrawn for a long time it will be sent automatically after 180 days

The spendable funds part is pretty useful - not quite the same as PayPal but I think a lot of people will really find that useful

their MP itself is a 3rd party based in Holland.
we'll see if they'll add more in the future for reals

no mention of third party payments, only that you can spend it with them or buy labels. It's not in any shape or form going to look like paypal, you still need to have a bank account attached for disbursements.

Paypal manages Paypal,but Ebay is using this company in Holland for MP,same as Etsy.
what comes next?
Like Paypal,it could issue you a debit card for spending,you can add fund using this debit card,but unlike Paypal,I doubt it will send you a check if you prefer bank check mailed to your registered address.
I used to use this Paypal debit card to purchase online or in store as a credit card as Paypal gives me a 1% cash rebate,but theses days most credit cards give you more then 1%.
And some stores like WMT recognises it is not a credit card,but a debit card and insist you use it as a debit card,so no 1% rebate from Paypal,
I have not used this PAYPAL debit card for years.

the news clearly says "ebay digital wallet"

this pretty much explains what will be happening , it will have functions similar to paypal and payoneer

it is also logical , they sold paypal and received billions , now they will just create their own paypal under a different name
