Ok, so I have SSN of someone I know. Family member but recently deceased. I don't remember the exact day, but I do know the month and year. Could I just enter the month and year, and just guess the day and it should go through? Thanks.

That's not possible. If they check the SSN and incorrect DOB, your account will be suspended.

Hmm I don't think they can see the exact dob with just the SSN, no? For sure the state of issue and (if I remember correctly) the decade of birth but not the exact date by default...

SSN verification is a common procedure , very easy to verify through third parties

I'm pretty sure they able to. If it's incorrect usually they will just ask for Photo ID.

Ok , this is a good question actually.

From what I know they auto match it from a database.
And since this is valuable tool you have I personally wouldn't risk it.

If I were you I'd find out the full bday. I'm pretty sure you won't have too much trouble doing it.

I haven't actually opened a new account in awhile, I don't remember very well the part where they ask for DOB, did they ask for the exact month,day and year? I could have sworn it was just month and year. Thanks y'all for helping out.

When I open an account with my mother SSN,it asks for DOB-MMDDYYYY.
It also wants a scan of front and back of the SSN card.

I was doing some research on this and if I'm wrong, hopefully US members can correct but when you use SSN, most platforms just match up state identification of SSN to the address and DECADE of birth to the range of SSN numbers provided for the person ....exact date and month of dob is not auto provided by SSN...

Ok, and I can use a any name I want (which is stealth of course) and when asked I can use ssn and estimated DOB is that correct? I think the procedure is that ebay will let you sell, then after a certain threshold, they will then ask for that DOB and SSN?

I don't think this would work. SSN's aren't any good once the person dies in the age of KYC. If you get past registration you'll probably be asked for ID at some point.. and then what?


It's still 100% free to get fresh EIN's from the IRS website though.

Can you call this relative 's family,say that you want to send some flowers but need her birthdate to match the kind of flowers you would like to send/
or lookup to see if these is any life insuranc policy ?or unclaimed property

Just use your own.. They're still distinct entities if the companies have their own EIN and bank account.

I've been using a couple of accounts for years and I forgot what the process was like. Do they ask for SSN right when you register now? Am I able to use stealth names for the time being and then use SSN and ein later? When do they ask for these SSN / ein in the registration process ?

When you just open an account,it does not ask for SSN,only when you start listing to sell,then you need to link a bank/cc with your MP account,and give them your SSN.
SSN is needed to generate a 1099K if your sales exceed $$$ and XXX transactions.

Ok, then after a certain amount sold, after you provided SSN, then they will ask you to convert to business then you have to provide ein? So let's say you sell past 600, then Ssn is needed, then you sell way more after that, then you need to provide ein and convert to business?

No one is going to force you to convert to EIN,are you implying that if they doubt your SSN then you convert to EIN?
also I dont think they wait till you get closed to 1099K limit to ask for your SSN,they want it as soon as you start listing items to sell.
Ebay should have some information on 1099K
