Wish.com - 6th largest e-commerce company in the world
 

Most of us are selling on platforms such as eBay, Amazon, Etsy (and a few smaller ones). One marketplace that flew under my radar was Wish.com - I had not heard of them until recently.

From looking at stats, it seems their app downloads are on par with Amazon and eBay (impressive!), and they seem to also be the sixth largest e-commerce company in the world - not to mention the top app on Android right now.

Question is, has anyone here used them?, and What has your experience been?

I applied, they mostly deal in generic items. I sell on another platform similar to wish and do a lot better.

I've also seen it being orientated towards generic and low priced items.

Not good. Been on there for 2 years. Some of my listings don't even show up and when I ask for help they tell me nothing is wrong. Only marketplace I sell on that seems to have no clue how to help me.

Like you, I thought it would be awesome because of how big it is. But, because I can barely get items listed or any help from anyone, it's been an awful experience.

I thought wish.com was just a Chinese platform for Chinese sellers to sell phakes directly to American consumers. My wife has bought crap from there a few times. Phake stuff every time.

Is there any point signing up if you aren't a Chinese factory/trading company?

I've known about wish for years, and figured it was another aliexpress in mobile form. They have a lot of complaints in comparison to similar platforms. If they are as popular as they say, and you offer items at reasonable prices why not?

I came here to say exactly this! Everything seems to be a phake item from China, with 1-2 week shipping times.

Although, I do enjoy my "YETI" tumbler for $10 though lol. Seems to do it's job.

Yeah I see YouTube videos of purchases people make on there and it’s all imported garbage. Some stuff may be okay being cheap but most are just way too different than what is advertised.

I’ve had to issue takedowns on there for knock offs and they take a week or more to remove anything.

Item quality can, and does sux.

BeefyBro was a total cheapskate and got a present for some bird.

Oh my, it was so badly made. I use it in the workshop to hold scissors etc.

To an extent, but a newish but large US website is selling my product and won't stop and is costing me thousands in legal fees to get them taken care of. They import all of this from China and can undercut me by $20-$30, so right now I'm literally losing money to myself. I'm not their first victim and they don't seem to give a rats bum to pay fines and settlements - but they push you until they can't push you anymore. I estimate I've already lost in the high six figures this year alone from them despite a restraining order to stop sells - they just put them back up. It is enraging how they think they can bully a small business. Wish, while cooperative, allowed around 1,000 sales before I got them pulled because they took almost a week. I barely get any sleep this time of year coordinating with people to get a handle on counterfeits. :doh: :typing:

WTF?! Have you lawyered up yet? Surely there's a way to prevent this.

The restraining order would be filed by a lawyer.

If the Admin of the company do not deal with this in a timely manner, sellers like Gladiator get handicapped as described in the post.

Larger companies have specific departments to deal with legal work. Wish may not have such considerations

As GreenBean said, the restraining order was filed by an attorney. They've violated it and get daily fines - they don't care. This particular venue has a legal department that doesn't want to shudder the listings as it's one of their biggest items for 2 months out of the year and I'm left out in the cold. I hope this will be the last year I have to deal with it, but it's...it's hard. It forces me to still have to work on venues like eBay and etsy because I drop so much income to counterfeits and I have to pay retainers to attorneys.

Websites like Poshmark, Wish, BooHoo...they're just horrid with the IP Department.

As the chap above said, if your getting copied, your doing well :p - So good on you on that side of things... hopefully all gets resolved in your favour.

But as you can imagine, it will forever be a cat and mouse game. That's just how knockoffs operate. Big brands find it difficult to keep up with it, so I can imagine what predicamenet you must face.

From my understanding thats a UK retailer, as oppose to an online marketplace for sellers to sell on. If their violating your rights, i'd just sue them.

Yeah, I've come to accept I can't stop it all but when venues just dick off with DMCA's and court orders it's really nerve-wrecking to deal with.

Yeah, they are being sued. They have been called out before and just keep on doing it. I've got Kohls, Hot Topic, FYE, etc...they all bought my designs off of an apparel vendor and rebranded them. Even getting cease & desist notices didn't work on all of them, I had to get a TRO from a Federal Court...and it still took almost a month. I have yet to get settlements and a return of the counterfeits. But yeah, Boohoo are just arrogant as they were sued in 2016 and attempted to sell the items AGAIN this year despite heading towards trial.

I like that my designs are hot commodities but it's been crazy. I could have been growing my business vs fighting for it the last 5 years.

The Court sets it and they are paid to them. So not much of a benefit for me outside of just forcing them to come to the table the high it climbs.

You need to do this,imho. They need to stop breaking various laws.

It allows a circle of destruction to exist.

Daw. Thanks. It's a blessing and a curse...and not in the cool being bitten by a radioactive spider kinda way. :lol:

I just thought I'd chime in that they were a shoddy group. Most of everything on there is knock-offs/cheap and their customer service department is nearly non-existent. Plus their search algorithm makes zero sense.

Wish.com is not seller friendly. Their return and refund process is the worst.
The return rate is too high and you won't be able to make profit. .. from experience
