eBay Motors and GM End Promotion eBay Motors and GM have decided not move forward with a national promotion after running a pilot program in California that ran from August 11 and was extended through September 30, 2009. The promotion had allowed consumers to shop new cars, crossovers and trucks online from participating California Chevrolet, Buick, GMC and Pontiac dealers on the eBay Motors website.
Rob Chesney, Vice President of eBay Motors, said the promotion resulted in more than 1.5 million total visits by mainstream new car buyers, generating more than 15,000 high-quality leads to GM California dealers.
"According to GM, the leads delivered by eBay Motors achieved a better than national close-rate for GM dealers, and eBay is very pleased with the overall consumer response to this innovative program," Chesney said.
"Our partnership with GM continues on several fronts, including the sale of Certified Pre-Owned vehicles and we are exploring additional opportunities to partner on new car sales. This program succeeded in driving awareness of eBay Motors as a destination for new vehicles. It also confirmed our ability to innovate by building out a custom program that could quickly deliver a high volume of quality leads over a short period of time across multiple automotive brands."
Chesney said eBay Motors would continue to test, pilot and implement new car initiatives with OEMs, dealers and other third-party companies. |
