While it seems eBay has been doing a
lot of laying off these days, including its head of global product and North America Stephanie Tilenius, who won't be replaced - the company does have some positions open. One is for Director of Seller Engagement, Marketplaces, a newly created position. (See below.)
Another open position is "Trust Analytics Manager" to work with the Site Analytics group responsible for delivering business insights and high impact analyses to the eBay Marketplaces business. The Trust Analytics Manager will be dedicated to the conception, design, implementation of data analysis and reports that predict and prevent Bad Customer Experience on eBay's website.
eBay is also looking for an Account Mgmt / Business Development Senior Manager who will work with affiliates to support key eBay growth initiatives (e.g. vehicles and Daily Deals), and will manage and set direction for an outside affiliate consulting agency team with 3 full-time consultants, among other responsibilities.

The eBay Marketplaces Communications Team is seeking a Director of Seller Engagement, a new position on team. As a key member of the team, the Director of Seller Engagement will create and manage programs designed to increase visibility for eBay sellers in the media, build community among eBay sellers and help eBay sellers drive business performance.
The ideal candidate will have an understanding of the challenges faced by small businesses and a desire to create and lead communications campaigns and that drive transformational change. The successful candidate will be passionate about the eBay experience and have a deep desire to help eBay sellers achieve their business goals. The person in this role should be comfortable working with eBay sellers and executives, poses intellectual curiosity, self-confidence, a positive attitude and a good sense of humor. The successful candidate should also have experience working in matrixed organizations, with a demonstrated ability to build consensus across operational disciplines.
Responsibilities:
- Create and execute programs designed increase visibility for eBay sellers in the media, build community among eBay sellers and help eBay sellers drive business performance
- Develop strategically-aligned communication themes and messaging that can be successfully delivered through a variety of media channels
- Identify eBay sellers who have a uniquely eBay story to tell and work with the media relations team to generate exposure for them in the media
- Conceive and execute community outreach programs that engage eBay sellers in conversations about eBay, entrepreneurship and ways to grow their business
- Working across functional teams, lead efforts to drive campaigns that help eBay sellers leverage eBay to grow their businesses
- Leverage existing and emerging communications vehicles to communicate effectively with sellers through conferences, media relations, grassroots community and viral channels
- Establish metrics and evaluate results against objectives
Job Requirements
- Strong project management skills, leadership abilities, and the ability to orchestrate many moving parts with urgency
- Must be extremely comfortable working with cross-functional teams
- Excellent writing and verbal skills
- Must be flexible to adapt to rapidly changing, high paced and results oriented environment
- Experience working with member organizations, cause-related advocacy or trade associations, preferably those involving entrepreneurship or small business
- Experience using eBay as a buyer and/or seller is preferred.
- People management experience preferred
- 10+ years of overall experience in Communications related function preferred
