eBay won't let it go - it's too dependent and interwoven with PayPal.

It would be so much better though if you didn't have to deal separately with PayPal and you could just process and collect payments on eBay. It's really convoluted the way it is now.

Ha madsam you brought this old one out of the cellar....someone get some big billionaire to buy enough stock and separate.

Who do we know who's single?

There has been talk for at least 2 years now of a PayPal spinoff. Don't get your hopes up.

Also, be careful what you wish for.

If PayPal DOES become a separate company, there would probably be an agreement in place that would keep it in it's dominant position on eBay for several years. Otherwise, it would have less value to investors.

Also, an independent PayPal would have more freedon to change the way they operate. They could, for example, morph into a bank or some other type of financial institution. That would make opening stealth account much more difficult.

I cannot foresee all of the possibilities, but the changes could have a negative, as well as a positive affect. There is no guarantee that all of the changes would be positive ones.

There's a lot of ways PayPal may go, but a bank or some type of regulated financial institution is not one of them.
