I would love to see the numbers on Stub Hub. What is doing for eBay. Looking at the fees they charge buyers and sellers of tickets. They must be killing it.
I have sold a few tickets on Stub Hub the fees are crazy. Some of them aren't even really fees. Like the ticket price you list it for one price then they tack on like $4-5. I imagine they must be making a killing on that aspect of the business. Especially since if you try to sell tickets on eBay they make it almost impossible. Especially if it is Playoff tickets.
What ever price you try to sell and ticket for lets say $25. They tack on $4-5 so the customer sees a ticket price of like $29. Then you as a seller have fees on top of that.
But yea, as far as I know it is every ticket. Even one you try to sell for like $10.
It's fashionable to want to go to gigs, sporting events etc.
People pay the premium.
For the most part StubHub is about the safest and easiest way to buy second hand tickets. Scored some MLB playoff tickets with them last year. Was pretty easy you got digital delivery could print them out in minutes later. Not having to deal with shysters on Craigslist or scalpers.
Overall it is a good service. Just if you are a seller you are paying an arm and a leg to move your tickets with them.
