| yotano211 | 01-29-2015 09:09 PM | Re: EBay Facing Collapse From Icahn’s PayPal Spinoff, Report Says I am sorry but that article is the biggest POS writing this month. First it starts off with a ebay/paypal split then walks into Carl Icahn then leads into talking about oil. It never returns to the orignal title of the aricle, ebay and the split.
If you see that the article is written more on oil than the name of the title. More than half of the article is written on the subject of oil. "With traffic and sales slowing they lay off 7% of the work force". Of course the sales of eaby are slowing, the market that they are in is saturated to a point with no or little future growth. How can they say that ebay has competition when Etsy is more for home crafted items.
The only thing they got right are some of the security breaches ebay has had and their problems with the search engine or searching on other search platforms, e.g. Google, Yahoo.
I never believe any religious site on the matters of business. For that I go over to Business Week or The Wall Street Journal. I think of this Jewish site more as a opinion web site. |

Ebay was never supposed to last this long anyways. |
| littleredengine07 | 01-29-2015 11:48 PM | Re: EBay Facing Collapse From Icahn’s PayPal Spinoff, Report Says eBay will not collapse. Luckily they were the first one in. Beside eBay and Amazon in the US what other online site could you really go to purchase goods. I know we have craigslist but if you had 100 customers a day. You wouldn't be able to do all your orders.
I believe the reason Paypal is going to be spin off is very simple. eBay and Paypal duo wants to make more MONEY.
Paypal will be turned into a bank. Most of the transactions they processes are processed by Wells Fargo. Think if Paypal was there own Bank. Transaction would cost them NOTHING plus now they can issue you credit cards. The ones stupid enough to take them will use them. Making ebay/paypal team more money.
Paypal is want to be bank right now. But they spinned off and get a banking license. Ebay has just double there profits. Investors are happy but the average seller is hurt once again. |

For example if you were
Bank A has a client who is worth several million dollars and has tremendous amount of money in Bank Accts or investment.
Let say Bank A shares with Bank B. Don't you feel bank B will try to poach that client from Bank A.
Hence Banks do not say a peep about there clients.
Banks do not want Paypal to be a bank. Although if Paypal manages to get banking license in all 50 states. Banks will never share your info with Paypal because now they see them as competitor. Banks never liked paypal because they sell credit card processing services. So they see paypal as a "want to be" bank. We have to deal with paypal because of the buyers who use them. |

They won't turn into a bank.
:attention: |
| littleredengine07 | 01-30-2015 07:39 AM | Re: EBay Facing Collapse From Icahn’s PayPal Spinoff, Report Says I disagree with yotano211. The fact they are probably paying a fee to Wells Fargo for processing is a COST. If they get banking license and pay whatever fee that GOV wants. They basically can do credit card processing for free than pay Wells Fargo some fee every month to year to use there services.
If you think Paypal won't get a banking license and just sit there like a duck. The world is coming to end. Paypal has always been greedy and will always find a way to make more off of all us except big corps. Quote:

| littleredengine07 | 01-30-2015 07:43 AM | Re: EBay Facing Collapse From Icahn’s PayPal Spinoff, Report Says They are already considered as Pass Through FDIC. Why not go all way and become a bank that does credit card processing.
A merchant account is a type of bank account that allows businesses to accept payments by payment cards, typically debit or credit cards. A merchant account is established under an agreement between an acceptor and a merchant acquiring bank for the settlement of payment card transactions. In some cases a payment processor, independent sales organization (ISO), or member service provider (MSP) is also a party to the merchant agreement. Whether a merchant enters into a merchant agreement directly with an acquiring bank or through an aggregator, the agreement contractually binds the merchant to obey the operating regulations established by the card associations. |
| Gamefreak | 01-30-2015 10:40 AM | Re: EBay Facing Collapse From Icahn’s PayPal Spinoff, Report Says if they become a bank u guys won't like it, plus they won't be able to hold our money like they currently do.
fact is eBay is holding paypal back from blooming into the beast it can become and other payment processors are cutting into payrolls payment market share. |

Seeyea, bye bye paypal accounts, BYE!!!!!.
If they do this they would have to reset every real account that has been banned over the years, I said real info accounts, not fa-ke accounts. I better get my job back on Wall Street back if this is the case.
I'm sure they make more money from normal fees than they would save in becoming a real bank and pay fees to Wells Fargo. Besides I dont think they pay that much in fees to Wells Fargo. Paypal is a huge client of theirs. They have room to renegotiate on favorable terms.
But these just ideas of my, we will see with time. |
| danshan | 01-30-2015 01:41 PM | Re: EBay Facing Collapse From Icahn’s PayPal Spinoff, Report Says I think if I was in charge of paypal I might just keep on rolling, they seem to have the money making thing working just fine! |

B. Why in the world would paypal want to become anything more in the direction of bank than they are now.......they live the perfect life now!! They don't have 5% of the restrictions a real bank does.....
Do you think your bank could hold your money for 180 days and not give you any reason??.......Anyone who thinks paypal wants to be a bank.......refer to the end of point A... |
| secret storm | 01-31-2015 01:58 AM | Re: EBay Facing Collapse From Icahn’s PayPal Spinoff, Report Says I would like to see ebid or bonanza take off anything is better than ebay...........except in the way of sales! |
| RosieTosie | 01-31-2015 04:47 AM | Re: EBay Facing Collapse From Icahn’s PayPal Spinoff, Report Says And that is all that matters of course, the sales, while eBay are still in the position they are in with sales, and that is clearly not going to change for the foreseeable future, everyone is going to visit the site to buy and browse and the rest of us are going to to do everything we can to stay selling on the site and get some of those sales ourselves. |
| littleredengine07 | 02-02-2015 10:18 AM | Re: EBay Facing Collapse From Icahn’s PayPal Spinoff, Report Says Why a bank because they can make more money. Paypal is a joke of payment processor right now. As real payment processor they won't have to pay any other banks. Just process the payments themselves. They can also loan sellers money which they have been doing. (Paypal Working Capital) Plus issue credit cards back by them.
Banks still can hold your money for 180 days. Its part of every user agreement you sign up with a credit card processor. Paypal has billions of dollars, that 5% they probably can make that in weeks or in a month.
If paypal becomes a bank. Now you can use other credit card processors too. eBay can't use paypal solely like what they are doing now, but instead you can sign up for Wells Fargo, Chase or another bank for payment processing. Who really likes paypal at the end of day. The only reason we all tolerate them because all the buyers use them. But if buyers just need to put in credit info. I believe the majority prefers that.
If Paypal becomes a bank and eBay does what it does now. Banks would be all over them for anti-trust issues. Once you go bank your playing with the Big boys. When the big boys see you pulling that much green. They will go after you. Who has more power Paypal or Chases/Wells Fargo/Capital One/CitiBank/Bank of America (put all together) Quote:

I think a lot of them have high school diplomas at most. They were the bully at school. Flunk school. The best they can do is work for eBay/Paypal. Banning people helps them to cope with life and give them purpose. Quote:
