that sucks. it must be a new thing. new lesson learned. time for a new account. :( :)

Can't you just give them your NEW CC?

Where could eBay be going with this? ALL credit cards expire, even the American Express Centurion Card....

aspkin 10-17-2010 11:28 AM

Well, at least you're not a seller (at least from the sound of it).

Creating a new account just for buying is cake.

They probably thought it was a VCC with how quickly it expired. They don't like those.

It depends how the card expired - did you cancel it or did just the date expire? When you report to cancel a card the card details get logged into a database which eBay heavily subscribes to and flags any cards used in that database to identify possible stolen credit cards.

Still, not often we see a buyer on here - welcome!

Seems pretty dumb for them to suspend you just because your card expired. They all expire so why is that even bad?

MadSam 10-19-2010 10:47 AM

Like I said, the date expiring so quickly could have made them think it was a VCC.

They know a VCC by number alone. VCCs and gift cards and even loadable cards are all generated with specific number patterns. They know the type of card that was used.
