Default $9000 Gone and Ebay did nothing about it, Paypal never recovered my $2000

Well I will keep this keep this short because I have many listings ahead of me to list :D.

Well About the incident. About last summer, I bought a patek phillipe pocket watch for around $9000 on ebay from a powerseller with around 400 fb. I paid via bank transfer to Commerz Bank in NY. I really don't do bank wires but I know in our business which is Pocket watches high price items are too risky to sell with paypal payment.

I wired the money on monday and saw 4 neg. feedbacks on the sellers profile but it was too late for me, I called the bank immidiately and then called the Commerz Bank and asked them what kind of a bank would open bank accounts for scammers, the bank lady told me she can't discuss the details of the account with me, then I reported this to FBI online unit send them all the info but no luck . Anyways same day I called ebay ( I am a powerseller with 1000 fb) and talked to my account manager and he said he will look into it and I told him, how can this person still be on ebay.

I mean I reported him on tuesday and it was like friday and he had still active listings which ir ridicilous since he had 5 neg. fb by then. Ok the funny part is this guy stayed on ebay probably for another month or more.

So there goes my 9000 and ebay didn't even pay me a dollar

My second horros story is with paypal,

I bought two nokia arte phone which totalled 1800 from a seller in the US. Well I paid via paypal thinking it's safe, then the phones came and first the phones came from China instead of US and as you might have guess they were ⊗⊗⊗⊗ with old circuit nokia phones and cheap imitation covers. I open a case with paypal but closed within an hour because the seller entered tracking number.

Then I opened up a new case. I won the case after two weeks but then i got this stupid dumb ass email message from paypal saying that the seller doesn't have any funds in his account to cover the refund so they will try to recover it. well guess it has been 2 years and nothing has been covered.

As I see paypal charges you all the time with this outrageous %4 fee but never deserves it because it never helps the customer or both the seller.

So if you are a buyer never never pay with your paypal balance alsways use your credit card because you can charge back anytime easily way easier than paypal.

I would think since ebay makes so much money off of us, they would at least do something for us but no luck, they are as greedy as other companies.

If I had any other option I wouldn't be selling on ebay at all.

Also I just read the Ebayhatesluv's story and I think Ebay should have been sued for sure and I would have killed that guy Frank guy.

Keep in Mind you can also sue paypal in Small Claims Court at your county if you claim is lower than $2500. You do not need a lawyer in small claims court.

I was gonna keep it short but oh well I can write a book on my ebay and paypal experiences.

Thanks for your story Corona1980, and welcome to eBay and PayPal!

Now you know what you're dealing with when it comes to buying and selling on eBay. I wouldn't be surprised if every single person on this forum or even reading this forum has been scammed one way or another by eBay/PayPal. It's sad.

Authorities will tell you it is a civil matter 95% of the time. I had someone rip me off for a couple grand and I went to the police. Stupid me sent $$ through wire transfer! Never do that! They basically told me they could not do anything and it was a civil matter and I should file a small claims case. I even called the authorities in Colorado (were the scammer was from).....they didn't care and probably threw my complaint in the garbage. I filed with every internet fraud thingy I could find, the BBB, etc......A few yrs later and still nothing! I will find this person, someday......

I personally would never buy anything over $500 on ebay, let alone online. If I'm gonna spend that kind of money on something, I need to see it and feel it, lol. AND I want a warranty. $9000 is just too much to risk on ebay.

NEVER buy luxury items off of eBay...The change of it being ⊗⊗⊗⊗ or getting scammed is WAAAY to high.

How did you win this case? I was told paypal cannot verify description only delivery.
