My eBay HORROR Story!

I was permanently restricted from selling on eBay in February after more than 11 years because I am disabled and injured my back over the holidays, which resulted in my shipping a few orders late. Even though I received NO negative feedback from any of my customers--and actually received a lot of POSITIVE feedback because I sent everyone a free item to make up for the delay--eBay claimed that I was a "threat" to potential customers and would no longer be allowed to sell on their website.

I had two accounts--both with 99-100% Positive Feedback ratings and four-and-a-half out of five star ratings on shipping time. First, I was informed that one of my accounts was being temporarily suspended until I sent proof that I had shipped all of the late items. I did so and was told by an eBay representative that my account would be reinstated and that my account was in "no danger of being permanently restricted" as long as I continued shipping on time. A week later, my account was permanently restricted for the same reason. Then, I contacted eBay about my other account and was promised that it would be reinstated. I asked the eBay representative to be SURE it would not be suspended again like my other account, but of course, that's what happened a week later, and another representative told me that she did not have the authority to reinstate it. Unable to get anywhere with eBay over the phone, I wrote to the corporate office in California to complain and was dismissed again. I was told that this was "a business decision", which made no sense to me, because what business fires someone after 11 years because they had one setback due to an injury? As an unemployed, handicapped person, this was my main source of income.

In addition to recently becoming aware that eBay is focusing more at the large companies that now sell on their website, while the smaller sellers who have built the company into what it is today are callously cast aside, it has also become apparent to me that eBay has NO consideration for handicapped sellers, as I have been insulted and even physically threatened by buyers who were in a hurry to receive their orders and neglected to read the extended handling time stated in all of my listings, but eBay took no action when I reported them and have instead suspended ME.

Re: My eBay HORROR Story!

This is exactly why eBay Stealth exists. I used to believe that the only people who lost their eBay accounts were scam-artists, fraudsters and counterfeiters. Then I got suspended and I started looking around on the web for a way to get my account back. I found thousands of eBay horror stories. Tens of thousands of people have been kicked of off eBay. They can't ALL be bad sellers.

I found this website and I have been in stealth mode ever since. It was a blessing in disguise. Why? Because now, if eBay shuts down one on my accounts, it represents maybe 5% of my business, not 100% of my business.

And they DO favor the larger sellers.

If YOUR feedback rating was 99.2% in the local community, you would be elected businessman of the year. But in eBay's eyes, you are a disaster and a threat to their buyers. But this only applies to individuals. If you are NewEgg, with a 99.2% feedback rating, well, that's just fine.

Seriously, check out NewEgg's listings. They even manage to HIDE their feedback rating. eBay would never give individual sellers that ability. Don't get me wrong, I LOVE NewEgg and think they are a great company. What I don't love is the way that eBay treats individual sellers.

What makes me mad is that individual sellers MADE eBay what it is today. Without the individual sellers, they would have been out of business shortly after they were started. eBay was NOT the first auction site on the internet, but they WERE the first one where ANYONE could buy and sell. That is no longer the case. Anybody can open an account, but that is NOT THE SAME as being able to sell. They became a corporation and decided that only other corporations are trustworthy. The little guy gets screwed again.

Stealth is our way of evening the playing field. Stealth WORKS and it allows us to spread our risk among several accounts so that they cannot shut us down completely.

Welcome to the forums! Lots to read here, and yes, without this website, I'd be in big trouble, as in jobless. Definitely get the stealth guide.

Remember that feeling of losing that only account. I think I was up all night reading horror stories. There are certainly steps:

1. Denial
2. Anger
3. Depression
4. acceptance
etc
etc
