Re: ebay first item

I guess so if you have a clear idea on what not to list as first item to sell.

List a small item (maybe a book or something from around the house) take your own pics and use an original description and list it as an auction.

Careful with "small item from around the house"... I had a brand new account shut down in minutes because I listed this one I had around the house:

I knew it could have happened.. my bad.

@ OP: Search the forum for first items to sell. Lots of hints in here.
BTW books are ok as per stationery.

Re: ebay first item

Get advice from the seller first.

"Copy" is a word never to be used on eBay/AMZ listings shall be unique (e.g.: dont use stock photos or third parties photos).

The selling limits are somewhat irrelevant as the account has no transaction history.

The advice to list a low value / low risk item still stands.

Buy the stealth guide and reread it over and over again.

List low key items as auction and go slow

It is all about be patient list one item best auction low starting price avoid vero items sell this one deliver get feedback then list 2-3 and build up slowly if you rush you might be lucky but you might not and what you have paid for account will be wasted slowly 2-3 months try to build reputation

I have a question, if I may, Once you gusy listed all this stuff (1 - 10 $ items or whatever), sold a little, gained some feedback... When would you guys start selling the real stuff.. Approx. how many transactions or feedback's would you gain, until you list the "real ****" that you wanted to list from the beginning?

You should be fine, I am posting after my first week as well, and hope these 2 items are not going to get flagged. I started both at $0.99 bidding with no reserve for two days.

1 week is cutting it a little close for my taste, I like to wait 2-4 weeks before listing anything

Re: ebay first item

I always list item the second day after the account is created. What I list was 15 poly bubble mailers for 1.99. The shipping costs 2.77 USPS first class but I can sold 5 in 3-4 days. After that, I start to list high risk items (~ 100USD value) and never got a problem

Re: ebay first item

I sometimes will list something in my garage, like a bike part. I list it just to dbl check I can list without getting that MC999 error that everyone talks about (that I've never seen). Then end that listing immediately. Then I list Balls out. I have about 20-30 items at 10-20 available each item. Dollar amounts are anywhere from $9-$30. Never had a problem in 4 years with listing too fast.

That doesn't mean it can't happen as I'm sure it has...just not to me. I'm just saying.
