Will ebay suspend me, If I put my own shopping web site URL in the item description
 

Hi, Everyone
I think ebay is a really tough world to live, and I'm planning to build up my own shopping web site, but I'm just curious, if I put the URL of my own shopping website into the an ebay item description,for advertising purpose. will they found that out, and will they get my ebay account suspended?

Of course they will

It is also against the rules to put your URL as a watermark in your photographs , however a lot of people get away with this for long periods of time as long as you keep the text small and faded. People can see that the url is there , but need to look closely to make it out. Also you want to print up some advertising and include them in your packaged ebay items , this is a legit way to bring traffic direct from ebay to your own site. I print out the shipping slips , then staple a business card to the slip and slide it in the packaging before I ship out.

Absolutely. ebay suspend for that. The idea is that the listing only be a description of the item not your advertising.

You can add the email in the description. Look thro' other listings in the category you sell in and see how they are made. Many add email addresses.:cheer:

please correct me if I'm wrong but can't you link out to a website for more information on an item? or more pictures? The price of the item has to be more on the website than it is on ebay or something like that.

Correct me if I'm wrong but I believe, If you list a classified ad, then you can add a link to a website for a specific item your selling.

He would need to 'market' himself thro' a logo, aboutme page etc,no?

Yes I know what he was asking, I'm saying he if he makes a classified ad on Ebay for a specific item, he can add a link to his web page for that item and have them checkout through his web site.

You can advertise your site on ebay through their classifieds. As long as you dont make it look like you are sending them there to shop - make it look like you are sending them there for info. If they shop there - GREAT!

*If* ebay finds out, you will almost surely be suspended. It is a direct violation of TOS. Expect somebody to turn you in.

Yeah I have seen ppl making classifieds and they last the whole month and all they do is sell the same thing in their pic on another site for cheap - it was vero too -

You have to worry about ppl turning you in if ebay didnt find you yet - but it can be done if you agree to their rules - which is just linking for more info...

Here's the sticky part: If you put it for advertising purposes, as you said, you violate TOS. However, if you take the suggestions of people here, and don't link to a shopping site, but instead link to an information page, you should be fine.

i think you can put your website in your about me webpage on ebay.

The only place you can list your website is on your "About Me" page on Ebay. Otherwise your looking at a quick suspension.
