eBay permanently suspended my "new" account but not my 2006 account?
 

I got suspended a while ago on my 2-week old account and found that my old (real) account made in 2006 was not suspended. I've also been selling on my old account for the past week and haven't been suspended on it (nor have I changed my of my details, they're identical to my suspended account).

Is this unusual? I'd have thought permanent suspensions apply to every eBay account you have. :faint:

What was the reason for the suspension?

Depending on the reason for the new account being suspended, expect the old one to follow soon since they are linked. I could be days or months.

The old account will go down for sure at some point.

Youre just slipping between the cracks at this point - temporarily.
Next time theres Bot sweep this account will go down.
As mentioned above - start working on backup accounts for when that comes to be. Be prepared for it and count your lucky stars that it doesnt come as a surprise when it does hit and that you have those backup accounts to fall back on.

I had a linked account go for couple years. However this was back in 2009 so not sure if still applies at this point.

Back in 2009 you could easily get away with it but now it seems to happen very quickly.

PayPal & eBay are pushing more and more users to Stealth & eventually its going to hit them badly.

It is a matter of time for their system to link the two accounts. It's time to make some back up accounts

I just had the same thing happen to me. They banned my newer accounts, but let me keep my older account from 2007, and told me to use that one. and continue to keep it in good standings.

So they know about linked accounts and such? I would not accept everything they say as being "best advice"...

Yeah, they know all about it. I spoke with several different people and departments several times. They brag on it while telling me I'm banned for life on my others. Doesn't make much sense to me. I had them all slightly different addresses and name but like a dummy I used same paypal and it linked them all together. Never had PayPal issues. Just pressed my luck too much on ebay. If I open a new ebay in my maiden name from a new IP address would that work ?
