what is AVS for Ebay and PayPal
 

When i read post on the forums, i always see "AVS for Ebay and PayPal "

I am confused by "AVS for Ebay and PayPal " ,i know it is Address Verification ,but i don't what it is for. Is it used when we get limited by paypal?like proof of the address which paypal ask when our account is suspended?

AVS is the system used to validate your payment information, commonly a credit or debit card, when registering it with PayPal.

If your card issuer doesn't support AVS, most, including PayPal, will accept it without an AVS check.

As far as I am aware, AVS is limited to only digits in your address. For example:

AVS:

23 (Door Number)

1234 (Zip Code)

Rather than the full address. As for PayPal limitations, it isn't used as a form of validation, as the technology is for billing, but documentation such as a utility bill etc. would be accepted as a form of "Proof of Address" for PayPal.

It verifies your address

Basically in a nut shell it make sure that the address you enter on eBay/PayPal matches your cards registered address

Some cards are opted out of the AVS system so it will pass even if the addresses do not match
