confessions of an internet auction junkie

I read this book a while ago, and it had something interesting in it.

Do an eBay member search for zenweb

That's the guy who wrote this book, and it's been a while since I've read it, but I think here's what happened. His account got suspended, and he got a lawyer to write a letter to the president of eBay. The pres might have been different at the time, but his account suspension was lifted, and they gave him some goodies, I think free insertion fees or something. And his account only has something like 200 feedback, so he wasn't even a powerseller. I think the book was written a few years ago though.

most of us here have screwed ourselves and will not win a court case against ebay. myself, had an ebay account that was doing great, quit my job, two years later (this may) i suffered from a cerebreal annurism and decided to start selling questionable items on a different ebay account to help pay the bills. got caught. now here i am. i will never be able to get back on ebay with my real info. if i could only find a way to get back on and never screw up again. "we're all here to do what we're all here to do." right aspin? (morpheus qoute)

*edit - It's Aspkin

You know it is a sad state of affairs when rapists and murderers are given second chances, but someone sells a knockoff or uses someone else's ad copy and they are sent to the gulag for good.

You shouldn't really copy others ads. I use to hate when people do that and copy my pictures.

I did it on the very first knockoff I tried to sell, mainly because this guy had like 20 FBs all for the same item identiacl to mine and thought if he was sneaking through all of the time so would I...I think he is the one who turned me in and not by the TM holder.

Chris, somewhere I read that you have a list of items to stay away from selling that are particularily red flagged. Could you post a link?

Chris Hanson 08-30-2007 12:37 PM

yeah the link is somewhere buried. You may have to do a search for it.

DogFacedBoy 08-30-2007 01:12 PM

I'm sure someone will remember

Shoot, I wish I wrote it. And it's an actual book, not an ebook, for anyone confused. The author's some Hollywood screenwriter, and the eBay account hasn't been active in months.

I'm just saying that if you get can get a lawyer to write a letter to ebay's president about an account that you had in good standing, then maybe you could get it reinstated.

DogFacedBoy 08-30-2007 01:15 PM

gotcha, thanks

replacement oil wick?

I've got a bunch of "real" A&F and RL stuff that I need to list, but now I am leary.

I think if I offer up good enough pics to show they are real...

Who knows, I think a lot of the VeRO stuff gets hit, just so people have to buy new or from an authorized dealer. Don't like us selling the same stuff for less because we happened upon a deal

rogueseller 08-30-2007 01:19 PM

Oh, and Spike1, glad you didn't die
