I'm not sure it is. Providing eBay ⊗⊗⊗⊗ ssn seems no diffrent then provideing / having account in false name

Trust everyone here when we say - it is illegal.
If you provide a ⊗⊗⊗⊗ SSN it wont pass cause they actually use it.
If you provide a real one youll be stealing someone's identity - and worse putting a target on your back.
What will happen is this: at the end of the year paypal will issue a 1099 for taxes on the account. This will be forwarded to you through the account and the the IRS who will then pursue the true owner of that SSN for unpaid taxes. Since youre messing with the federal authorities they just might pursue the issue once they find out that they were lied to you. Since paypal will have your banking info and any number of other identifying factors they will more than likely be able to track you down and put you behind bars.
Messing with ebay and paypal and doing stealth is one thing. Youre breaking only THEIR rules so the worst that can happen is being suspended/limited by then. Messing with the federal government is quite different and the consequences could be quite severe.

Dude, IT IS TOTALLY DIFFERENT in many aspects. Using False names have no issue since there are too many people with same first name and last name. Whereas, providing the SSN is unique, and only one owns it. Refer to slokor's post for more info regarding how bad it is to use other's SSN.

In general, in the US, using an alias is not illegal AS LONG AS THAT ALIAS IS NOT USED FOR THE PURPOSE OF COMMITTING FRAUD.

The most common example is marriage, a woman walks into the DMV and changes the name on her driver's license - no court order required, MAYBE these days she needs to show her marriage license, which takes very little to get. After a divorce she can change her name back to her 'maiden' name. No brainer.

She can change her credit card or bank account info after her marital status changes. Happens every day. Nobody will think twice about the fact her birth certificate or SSN card has a different name.

There is no legitimate reason to use somebody else's SSN for any reason EXCEPT fraud.

Another example is using nicknames or shortnames. Example: Bob vs. Robert, Tony vs. Anthony, Cynthia vs. Cindy, Rebecca vs. Becky, etc, etc..

Other people use an intital as their first name: G. Beckly, P. F. Chang, etc.
Many variations of a name. You can even legally use your Middle name as first name if you wish.

So as long you won't be commiting fraud, it's doable.

The only place you will need that information will be in the PayPal account attached to the eBay store. eBay won't ask for it but Paypal will. They give you other options though. What you will do is go to https://www.irs.gov/businesses/small...ber-ein-online and apply for a tax id number. Its free and PayPal accepts those as readily as a social security number. When you go to the site you put in your real information and the business name on your store. Make sure the business name you use is the same one you use in PayPal. Paypal will not check to see who is listed as the owner of the business. I think you also have to create an LLC before Paypal sends the information to the IRS but I'm not 100% on that part.

Ya I guess I just need to use multiple accounts. I've been trying to find ways around it but guess there Is not any.

Providing a real of phake SSN is going to be illegal. Aspkin would not condone this, and he does not even like it being discussed in the forums. Going with multiple accounts would be safer for you in the long run.

Paypal generally wants a SSN once you have sold around 150 items within a calendar year.

Remember though, this resets on January 1st, so try not to get the SSN request and just keep rotating sales between accounts.

The other option if an account proves to be good and you are selling legit items is to open an LLC Corp (not a sole proprietor) then you can sell beyond those limits, but you will also get 1099'ed if you sell over 200 items AND $20000 in 1 calendar year.

Excellent point about nicknames as well.

Once knew a guy, first name was 'Richard', last name something along the lines of 'Crusher'.

Not a pretty picture, if you ask me.
