HAS ANYONE BEEN SUSPENDED USING A PUBLIC LIBARAY internet ACCESS?

question...has anyone been suspended or linked when making an account or checking your ebay/paypal account with internet access from public places such as library, starbucks, etc.

there's got to be a lot of people using those public internet access to check their accounts, i have a theory that those type of accounts are harder to get suspended being that there might be hunddreds or thousands of people going in and out of their ebay/paypal account.

anyone?

It takes more then just an ip to link you. You shouldn't have any problems with your own computer. I've always wondered about using a public library computer though. Does each person use a new user account or something?

Ive signed into a few accounts on the same ip address by mistake a few times and nothings ever come of it.

but did you have a suspended account? if not, then it wouldn't matter if you logged into your accounts with same ip. it's when you have a suspended account then log into that same ip with different ebay account , that's where you will get suspended

vetus 06-08-2009 09:45 AM

Both suspended and active accounts..

Also i have wondered is it the same with people who use the same vpn services, like if 50 ebayers are all using blacklogic.com arnt they all using the same ip address? Or does everyone get there own unique one assigned?, im not quite sure, someone must know.

oompaloompa 06-08-2009 10:43 AM

blacklogic provides unique and shared ips, unique is recommended, per ebay accounts

aspkin always says to stay away from vpns.....any confirm that it is actually safe>?

lakeman 06-08-2009 01:34 PM

VPNs are definitely not safe. Yes they can work but there are a lot of people that report suspensions because of them. They are considered a last option.

ebaykilla 06-08-2009 07:54 PM

i got suspended with vpns and using a mac store ip. try to use unique ip's or dial up.

inverser 06-09-2009 01:49 AM

I've been using a mobile broadband card (Sprint) with my laptop. It assigns a unique IP every time it establishes a connection.

oompaloompa 06-09-2009 04:11 AM

agreed, stay away from vpn in general but I have read on forum that blacklogic is ok, I have not tried it myself though

nobody,
Yeah, have had one account that got suspended. Account was created at the local library. Turned out I used the same computer as someone who was arguing with ebay over their suspension. What happened was the webmaster did not have the system set up to delete cookies like we have here on the forum.
ebayhateluv had x3 accounts suspended under similar circumstances. She had made them at three different libraries. It can happen, maybe not often though. In our cases we did get the accounts reinstated.
just some info for you:peace:

did you make AND use the account at the library exclusively? or did you make account at library and used it at home?

GreenBean 06-11-2009 09:31 PM

Only at the library: still use it there. That was the whole point of it. The account got made to be 'safe'. Kinda backfired, but as I said, it was fixed.
I keep the account more as buying. Sell maybe every 6 weeks to keep a low profile.:peace:

I've definitely been linked and limited on library computers =(

terell05 06-23-2009 02:24 AM

If the library has wireless, then use a laptop instead. Every time I connect on my schools wireless I have a different ip address.

aliman 06-27-2009 09:33 PM

I have used library computers for three linked accounts no problem.

I had an account that was suspended about 4 years ago. And not knowing what I know now from STEALTH, I just opened all new accounts under the same IP and all and that account lasted for about 2 1/2 years.
Having said that, I used to go to the library and I would place bids and even relist some items and never had a problem with anything.
I think sometimes Ebay just randomly picks a few out, suspends them, and waits untill you can prove who you are with the legitimate documentations that they ask for. Either way they don't care.
Good luck!
