changing email address on ebay and paypal...

hi,

I'm current using yahoo email for ebay and paypal. Yahoo email doesn't work so well because I cannot searched my old mail well.

I would like to switch over to Gmail. May I ask if it's gonna be any problem for my ebay and paypal account?

Thanks

GreenBean 02-16-2008 09:50 PM

Gmail is effective because of the way you can define items with filters etc.
There are options in ebay & pp to have alternate email addresses. If there are
pending ebay & pp problems, however, I would ask you to double check such
changes with the more experienced forum users.

gmail is awesome, i use it for all accounts.

also, one thing you can do if you have a billion email accounts is get a Netvibes account, then add all of your email addresses to it. it will show you when any of them have new email! so you dont have to log into each one separately to check.

coolandcalm 02-17-2008 08:45 PM

That is pretty cool ivegotinfo, awesome way to see all your emails, i got 30 accounts so this would be perfect!

does my address on ebay look fishy?

I asked this to few people but wanted some ideas here too.
my registr. address is like this: 12345 ⊗⊗⊗⊗ st. 123456, ⊗⊗⊗⊗town, ca, 11111.
that 6 digit number after the street name is a po box(which doesnt even work if something with this format). does it look suspicious? can I/should I go and change it before I fax in my merchant stuff? would that look more suspicious? :)
pleaseee..going nuts here..I will so relieved once this is over..God help me!

aspkin 02-19-2008 01:44 AM

It could be an apartment number too, no?

You should really send something that's a real address though. I'm not sure how successful statements with a ⊗⊗⊗⊗ address on them are.

Wait for more replies.

rond100 02-19-2008 02:01 AM

You could add the word "Suite" before the number to make it look more legit. This would make look more like an office address.

doesnt sending something with a real address beat the purpose? I mean the address should match the ebay registr. info, shouldnt it?(which is a ⊗⊗⊗⊗ address).

coolandcalm 02-19-2008 03:52 AM

That looks suspicious to me, if you are going to use a ⊗⊗⊗⊗ address, at least make it one out of the phone book or online phone book. I dont think it would pass the test....my opinion

keceli 02-20-2008 10:33 PM

I think you guys are getting me wrong. the adress doesnt actuallly say ⊗⊗⊗⊗ or anything..the only part unusual is that 6 digit number.
also photoshoping is not the problem. the problem is that if the person who matches this address on merchant acc to the registration addr. will say, hey this address doesnt look right?!

HI:
I "think" I know what he's saying, Ive had some buyers form Nevada, using an address, then the 6 dig number, the items were high ticket, so i googled them first.. In both cases they belonged to a mail stop/ like a mail boxes etc place, so i was ok with that.
--So, my guess is that his address, like Rond100 said, is a Suite number..
BUT.. the address MUST be existant.. for example, if the Us postal service, only knows of and delivers to house numbers 100---through 250 on a street, and you have # 268, thats a red flag,
BUT.. if youre 240 Main Street Ste 123456 , then thats ok... I use this format all the time.
Hope this helps :))

Yes the address exist..its a Post Office address :) but if you sent mail t wont get delivered..I found out that later.
so what you are saying is that it should be ok, right? (sending documents with that address, the other option I have is to go in my ebay registration info and change my address, which could be even more suspicious) I need to make up my mind really soon..going crazy here.
also what happens if they cant reach you thru the phone call the first time? do I have to stay home and wait r the call?(its a legit landline #)

keceli 02-20-2008 10:54 PM

by the way, ebayhateluv, thank you for your help :))

Jonas 02-29-2008 10:22 PM

If it matches with the postal system as valid, it is fine.

My stamps.com software matches stuff so I'm sure big ebay has something of their own.

Email address changes on eBay

Hi,
Still nursing a newly opened account, been running almost a week. Just bought a couple of items and all seems ok thus far. I was closed down last time for buying feedback by buying a load of 10p ebooks. These are genuine purchases for a few pounds each.

My question is about changing email address's as I have changed the email address and then changed it back again so it will look as though there's been a couple of changes already.

Then I read a thread about the PayPal account name should be the same as the eBay account name so I've just created a new Yahoo email address using my eBay id name@yahoo.com. I want to use this now as my eBay AND PayPal account email and was worried that too many changes of email address might put a flag up - what do the experts think?

Thanks,

GreenBean 03-16-2008 06:31 AM

If the account is only buyers, there will probably be not as much scrutiny.

mfletche 03-16-2008 10:48 AM

Thanks for that, thats what I'd hoped for. Just want to make sure I've taken as many precautions as I possibly can.

Thanks.

Phone # and Address have to match?

I have 2 landlines in my home, if I use a ⊗⊗⊗⊗ address of someone a few blocks away from me, and my second land line number, is it safe?

thelizardking 03-18-2008 03:50 PM

Yes its safe, they don't match them.

ivegotinfo 03-18-2008 09:06 PM

there is no way to match phone numbers to home addresses. this is why everyone with multiple accounts is using virtual phone numbers

aspkin 03-19-2008 04:49 PM

Actually if you have a landline there is. Do a google search for your number if its a LANDLINE and you might be surprised.

Something like 2105610668
