Paypal Nightmare

Hi all,

I created a stealth Ebay and Paypal account back in October 2018. It has been going well until today when I logged into Paypal and I am being asked to verify my address???

This is what I got from them....

Dear PayPal customer,
To help us confirm this account, we need a valid proof of address document to
confirm the legal full name and address for the primary authorised user as
registered on the PayPal account.
We’ll accept a copy of the following documents (must be issued within the last 12
months):
• Utility bills
• Bank statement
• Credit card statement
Other valid proof of address documents (must be issued within the last 30 days):
• A recent rental agreement
• Recent payslip

We don’t accept:
• Invoices
• Partial Documents

Please note: The scanned document should be fully visible, easy to read—free of
blur, glare, and shadows.
Once you've completed these steps, your case will be reviewed by one of our
Account Specialists. We'll send you an email with the outcome of the review.

Does anyone know why this might be and what I can do about it?

Many thanks

Re: Paypal Nightmare

I don't have what they have asked for.... I did just change the address on the bank account that is linked to the stealth address, I have access to this address. Should I request a statement to be sent there and then give them that?

Re: Paypal Nightmare

Thank you. I know why this is, I have stupidly not left enough money in Paypal to cover postage costs and it's used the bank account to pay them instead. Is there any way out of this?

Almost without any doubt this is not why.... :typing:

Re: Paypal Nightmare

Sorry I mean I can give them a bank statement, a legit one with the correct name and address, but will they accept that if payments going through paypal were under a different name than the one I registered with?

Do you mind me asking why you think this is not the reason? I have had no trouble before now and these postage payments came out on 5th December.

You need to give them docs in exactly what you registered the account in. If you recently changed the address, use that address. If you dont know how to do this, get a hold of one of the accounts sellers here for some assistance in getting proper docs.

Re: Paypal Nightmare

ok, Not long before I opened the stealth accounts, I changed my surname by deed poll... so I used that name and an address I have access to for ebay and paypal. The bank account linked to paypal is registered with my old name and real address. I have changed the address on online banking app, i can take in my change of name deed to the back and get my name changed on the account and then get real statement. But I don't know how they will accept this as they can clearly see the name the bank account is registered in can't they as it's been used now through paypal?

Re: Paypal Nightmare

They clearly could see the name of the bank account when you added it. They deposit and withdraw to confirm the bank or you give them access via instant confirmation. To this day, paypal has never used that information for anything.

My point being, they already had that information when you added the bank account initially. withdrawing from a bank account is now standard procedure in the USA seeing as we can use the balance to pay ebay fees.

Re: Paypal Nightmare

Thank you, I have been googling like a mad person and I have looked at emails and it seems that it might be because I am reaching 2500 euro or equivalent. Why does Paypal not care if the bank account doesn't match the paypal account name?

They nor any other platform ever has. Banks sometimes dont like it. Paypal could not care less.
