if you by accident get the IP of someone else's banned account...
 

say you use a dialup account for your eBay account and you by accident get an IP address that someone else has used has already logged into eBay and his account was suspended, would you get suspended too? even if your account details (name, address, etc) would be different?

i imagine if you're living in a large city and by chance your ISP assigns the IP of someone that had their account suspended to you and you then log into your account with that same IP ...you could be in problems?

The chance is pretty slim.. but if it did happen, eBay doesn't go off the ip address alone. It'll take an IP address and something else that matches to link and suspend the accounts.

I have kept a log for 2 years of all my IP addresses ever used and once in awhile have come across the same one, so I make sure to change the access numbers I use with my provider.

yup- im using dial up because I'm too afraid I'll forget to reset my cable modem.
