eBay vs. PayPal
 

Can someone please confirm that at the time of writing, eBay and PayPal are two separate companies and none are owned by each other?

I tried to search online before asking, but couldn't find enough information. That's why I said 'at the time of writing'.

Separate companies sure but ton of info sharing so...it's a moot point for stealth purposes...

"We'll also continue to share some customer information between eBay and PayPal to provide you the same level of customer support and fraud detection"

They definitely share information.
In so many cases paypal will limit an account and ask for information about the items sold on ebay. In the transaction description on paypal you can see the item title thatw as paid for and a link to it.

Totally separate companies for a couple years now and ebay is moving away from paypal and paypal hates ebay BUT They share A LOT of information but not nearly as much as they used to.

It is so ironic,Ebay found Bill Point with Wells Fargo,phased out Billpoint and bought Paypal.
Paypal is growth and Ebay is not,so Ebay spun off Paypal,but there are contractual agreements where Ebay will have Paypal as payment processor for x number of years and then gradually phases out Paypal and use other payment processors.
One key is it cannot just pull everyone out of Paypal,it has to be done gradually,if you have not been invited to join Ayden,this is one reason why.
Paypal has said losing Ebay business is no big deal,but I wonder?
