MC011 - Proof of purchase for hoarded junk

I received an MC011 asking for proof of purchase.

I have junk around the house that I sell about 1 item a month when I have time. I sell things like old camera lens, Lego sets, wifi antennas, etc.

This time, I decided to sell an item that is old, but still new in the box. It is an HDMI switcher, made in the early 2000's which use to cost a lot, but definitely outdated by now. Since I am not in a rush to sell it, I just decided to list it for $500 BIN and will work the price down over time. Realistically, it will probably sell for $100 or less.

Anyways, I do not have proof of purchase for this item because it was just hoarded junk for a long time ago.

Is my account going to be permanently suspended?

Did you give them what they asked for?

The point of my thread:

- They ask for proof or purchase
- I don't have proof of purchase for junk

There asking for proof of purchase. As you don't have it, Mayby get creative, If you feel the account may be permanently suspended, then there's nothing to loose

Listing a "piece of junk" for $500 got their attention. If you don't provide what they want, kiss your account goodbye...

That is a very good idea, thank you very much. You're right, I have nothing to lose so might as well try that.

if they find your documents to be ⊗⊗⊗⊗,then you will get suspended.
just tell them you are selling your own stock, lots of people on ebay do not have receipts

If you just listed one item and they want the receipt for it, tell them. You know the next email will be requesting identity docs though, right? Prepare to get those ready also. I've never seen them accept supplier docs and just let you go back to seller. it's always something else.

This is the best advice, is your account flagged for managed payments, sometimes they MC011 accounts going over to to reverify them.

Just reply to to the message by clicking reply on the bottom and explained what you just told us. Then I would go to help "appeal a decision" and ask for a call back and you may get lucky and get an Irish customer service rep and explain to them again and ask for their help.

Also as you have received a MC011 make sure any returns and items not received are taken care of, if there are any, eBay will not do anything if these are outstanding. Also expect divers license, credit card statements etc when you satisfy the first request for invoices.

Re: MC011 - Proof of purchase for hoarded junk

The OP has stated no proof of purchase as the initial problem. Most of the account holders on here are usually stealth. If the account is real, then docs can be submitted, but they may still want to see proof of purchase which can be explained to ebay, good luck with that. However, if the account is stealth, then doc's wont work. Or the MC011 was due to Multiple cases from buyers,
Low percent of tracking numbers uploaded on time,
High returns & cancellations rates. Usually when ebay flags an account nowadays it's for good.

Re: MC011 - Proof of purchase for hoarded junk

Thanks all! This account is not stealth and is legit. Not on managed payments (probably because I don't sell enough). They did ask for driver's license and utility bill which I have supplied. There "should" be no issues there but hearing how ebay works, it is whatever they feel like doing.

I decided to tell them that I have no receipt/supplier documents because it's all junk around the house. This is the only listing at the time. All past orders have tracking and no one has opened any cases ever.

I sent the reply yesterday, 11/18, but haven't heard back yet.

Hope you get it sorted. I like your odds for some reason.

What I did in the past is call them up tell them it's household stuff and they ended up letting me go with proof of tracking that it was delivered.

Word of advice to anyone else reading this.

When creating your first listing by all means sell some unwanted household tat. Just don't list your decades old junk worth a few buck for $500 and claim it's brand new.

Have you had other sales before this? How old is the account?

But I’ve said I’ve been selling an item a month. This last listing is not my first.

I personally think an item with original sealed shrink wrap is considered new, unless you think there is a specific age that is considered used?

Word of advice, please read carefully.

I have had other sales before, about 1 per month. My previous sale was $400. This particular account is 6 months old linked to my other legit account that is over 20 years old. Ebay lets us have a buying account and a selling account so I opened this one to start getting rid of things around the house.

Re: MC011 - Proof of purchase for hoarded junk

If you only sell 1 item per month and your account is a priviate account, you can contact EBAY and over 90% will be asked to provide the pictures taking from the "old" and "new" items. And better submit screenshots of tracking parcels from express company as well if you have one.

Likewise, word of advice, please read carefully. :thumb:

My advice was aimed at others reading this thread when creating their first listing, not you.
Don't list second owner ('used' in the eyes of ebay) decades old electronics as 'new'. It's an auto trigger for the bots, you've even found out on an account that previously sold.

Since they told me to respond after I have provided docs, I went ahead and replied to the message that I have no receipt because they were just random items laying around the house. They responded to that message and said that they reviewed my situation and decided to reinstate the account.

The message looks generic because they said for me ensure a future success, that I should ship in a timely manner, etc. Basically things that aren't even relevant to the situation.

Also, when they had asked for documentation, the address on my driver's license does not match the account nor utility bill that I had provided. Obviously they didn't check.

Anyways, I then noticed that the limits was still set at 0 for selling, so I opened a live chat with them. They decided to ask me questions like, what items I plan on selling, who is my supplier, how many items, average cost, etc. Then they asked me what limit did I wanted.

Then they increased the limit and officially re-activated it.
