Totally new to ebay, perma banned for not using real name, will below work?
Hey all.
In March 2020 I made an ebay seller account for the first time ever, but I used a false alias name just for no reason at all, "just because". I don't know why I did it, wouldn't have done it if I knew it would perma ban me.
Anyways, this got me perma banned for "unacceptable risk" before I could even sell my first item. At first I did not know why. I called customer support and after asking a few questions, they got suspicious because my name obviously didn't match that of the debit card and other info, so they requested the SSN or just any verification from the false name I used. I tried explaining that "oops sorry I just use a ⊗⊗⊗⊗ name, I didn't know that didn't fly, honest mistake, second chance please?" Ofc, they told me to F off and that they would not reinstate.
Question; Since this is a verification ban and not a ban for seller related shortcomings, could I use a family member's aged buyer account and ease it into seller? I.e. make it into seller, wait things out, list an innocent item, and when I get banned, provide real verification info? My address has gotten a different ISP since then, so IP has changed. All info on family member's account besides the address on the account is DIFFERENT. Only similarity would be address which yes I understand instantly gets flagged, but below is my reasoning.
Someone on reddit or some other forum I can't remember had a similar situation. They got banned for using a ⊗⊗⊗⊗ name because they didn't know it was an issue, used an already existing account, got banned for connection with IP or address or something, called and provided the real person's verification, acting like they were a new seller and wondering why they got banned, offering to give verification and they got reinstated. I would provide link if I could. Question is would this work? Pretty ultra specific situation. Also what if I changed dad's address, waited a few months, then made it a seller Acc? In that case, ZERO info would be connecting me to the banned account. Could I ease it into seller that way?
Only other solution is to wait a few years until I get my own place then I can make a fresh account with all new info. Still young enough where I live with parents, working ton of overtime, travel for work, saving money. They don't mind, I dont have to pay rent, it works :d
I've been selling on mercari for the last few months and made like 600 bucks, but niche/esoteric items get no audience. Most items I have just sit for months at way lower price than on ebay and never sell. Would make a bit more if I had ebay. |
