Ebay account restrcited - Not a MC restriction STRANGE
 

So i have a 20 year old account and recently have started selling again, i was selling for a good 3 weeks and yesterday ebay asked me to verify my information, so i had to upload identity documents, i uploaded a stealth high quality passport which i am 99% sure would be accepeted.

Today i recieved a message saying your ebay account has been restricted, in the email they wrote that i didnt supply them with the requested documents however i did supply my passport, very strange. I am an old seller and have tons of experienced but i have gotten in to this problem a couple of times on my other accounts too.

The restriction is not a usual MC restriction it simply just says your account is restricted, what could be the cause? I spoke to ebay and they said they wil get back office to look in to it however i dont have a positive feeling going from my last accounts

That’s the thing, they aren’t clear about this it is a strange kind of restriction I already uploaded my passport and then next day they sent a message saying this

Looks like the passport you sent in wasn’t accepted. Your information obviously can’t be verified. Don’t want to be negative but you might end up getting permanently suspended if eBay can’t verify your information.

Did you use real name, address and date of birth when creating the account?

Your actually dead on right I called in a few times and managed to get it out of one rep, he said passport couldn’t be verified, now I am very surprised as it was the latest UK passport in the highest quality, have eBay just upped their security checking lol?

No info was not real, but address is real but electro roll would fail.

Does this mean docs are dead and do not work ? I mean has no one been successful with ⊗⊗⊗⊗ docs ? :/

No what eBay do is verify your details once a sellers account is created if the details you used are not real then once you list an item up or sell an item they will then ask for proof of identity I.E passport (no matter how good the quality is it will be rejected because info is not real)

If you use real info you won’t be required to upload passport or proof of address as eBay has already verified your details are real when sellers account created.

Doesn’t mean one day in the future they won’t ask for proof of ID I.E (if you get get MC011 example) but if details are real then you have a better chance of passing a ⊗⊗⊗⊗ passport.

It’s best to use friends real information, family real information this includes name, date of birth and address. It’s advised to ask to use information but a lot of sellers on here will just create an eBay account in friends/family members info.

ok, so it's a temporary one, give them what they want again. Perhaps something else than a passport. Passports are easy to decode

Really interesting I knew that real info gets verified instantly but didn’t know ⊗⊗⊗⊗ info was so deep haha. What about real amen and address but not correct dob? Would that work or does it have to match up fully

I mean there are many people not on electrol roll so they assuming wouldn’t Ger verified instantly. Only people who are on electrol roll get verified instantly :)

Also would I be able to change some current ⊗⊗⊗⊗ account details to real ones ? Would that work too

The only way on ebay is using real info, so get permission from a friend or family.

It wouldn’t work no has to be real information no other way around it. Real name, address and date of birth. If you do I don’t think it would work so probably best to start again.

I think eBay do like a soft check on you they obviously have some sort of bot/software and if info not real it’s pings it up as a red flag and then you get the verify identity message.

Yeah if you have other stealth accounts with random info then yeah change the details to real information not sure if you have to contact eBay to change date of birth tho. It probably wouldn’t work thinking about it so it’s best to start again and use real information.

Also you can use savings account in your name and attach it to stealth eBay miss match names works perfectly. Some banks are better than others!

I think his account is toast driving license definitely wouldn’t work and eBay just don’t believe what he/she sends in are real because the system has already failed the identity check when he/she created a sellers account.

Yes you are totally right however i do think there is still a way through, as ebay work from electroll roll system, if they find you on there you get instantly verified and if not then you have to submit docs, so there are many people who opt to not be on the electrol roll so they have to then submit docs, so i am sure there is a way out i mean ⊗⊗⊗⊗ docs could work, but i just dont get why they didnt accept mine

About doing a soft check, if the person doesnt exist and doesnt have a credit score then how would they proceed i mean what if they are new to the country? then ebay would rely on docs so there must be some sort of way around this?

Im selling software but its not risky software, so i highly doubt i would get screwed over that, i mean they asked to prove my identity i uploaded passport then next day gor the restricted account message
