Ebay now gives reason for suspension! - and...LINKED BY PASSWORD?!

Ebay does gives the reason for suspension just like I thought. I just got this email today!!!!!!!!!!!!

But check this out

I made the 2 accounts at the library. I started using 1 account first and that got booted off. So I changed my ip and started using the 2nd account. The 2 accounts sold 2 totally different items.

But the thing is I never ever logged into my 2nd account after I created it at the library. I used Auctiva and listed some items about 3 weeks later. Never logged into it but, my passwords to both accounts were the same .

Now we all know ebay dont suspend on IP alone especially public library IP's.

Let me say too the only reason that I could have gotten link was by passwords! So becareful with using same password, they are cross checking passwords now

Dear xxxxxx (xxxxx@xxxxx.com),

Your eBay account has been suspended because our records indicate that it is associated with the following currently suspended account:

xxxxxxxxxxxx

aspkin 10-15-2007 06:15 PM

I've seen that before.

morghandonald 10-15-2007 06:19 PM

Had they earlier sent you a "no reason" notice or is this the first notice of suspension you received? I was suspended 2 days ago, and only got a notice headed "FPA Notice B001" with a bunch of vague stuff but no reason, explanation, or suggestion about what to do. I have NO IDEA what generated this notice. This is my first and only account, and I sell a range of stuff, none designer or high end....or low end, either. I have had no response to my email to Trust and Safety, and Live Chat was not helpful. I suppose I could know someone who was suspended....it sounds from the posts here that if any of my family or friends ever had a suspended account that I could be linked to I would get the hook also, but I don't know of any such instance, and ebay made no mention of a link to a suspended account in their email to me.

Plus you have the Shakespeare/monkey equation. There is a good chance with all the millions of users on Ebay, there will be a password overlap. Especially if it's a common word, etc.

An obvious point sure, but valid nonetheless.

I am running 12 different eb-accounts with the same password...no problems so far...
Al accounts are aged 30 day+ and work excellent:)

Cheers

.

Yeah, but how many sellers will have the same Ip , same city, same state, and same PASSWORD???

Also my password was not a common word. It is very unique

JackNoMore 10-16-2007 01:23 PM

No Modee. I'm saying that password overlap in and of itself is not sufficient enough means to link you for said reason. Geez. I'm throwing slow balls here.

Chris, I never said that. You guys are reading too much into this.

If it helps illuminate the message, just refer back to the point of many threads in this forum--no single ONE thing is ever guaranteed to link you. It's always a combination, though mix and match is going to happen. I've goofed more than once and not been punished for it. The reason these accounts are not eliminated is that they needed more information to nail the coffin lid shut.

Yes --same IP, same city, same state, same password=a very likely candidate for suspension. Of course. But none of those in and of themselves are enough to cause suspension.

Chris Hanson 10-16-2007 01:26 PM

Yeah Jack we already now that:) Also I never stated that the password was the only reason I was linked.

It was the password, Ip and the City and State

JackNoMore 10-16-2007 01:28 PM

I don't believe you have what it takes to determine relevance Modee.

Chris Hanson 10-16-2007 01:36 PM

HAHAHA LOl Jack has some heart now

ebaykilla 10-17-2007 08:55 AM

I think setting up both accounts at the same time on the same IP doomed you from the start. It happened to me at a library. I highly doubt the password was the issue.

Chris Hanson 10-17-2007 09:01 AM

I didnt set up the accounts at the same time. It was atleast 2 days apart.

And I know for sure the only only way I could have been linked is by my identical passwords and the same IP

Majorskold 10-17-2007 11:47 AM

I would bet that it is because of the ip and pw combo! Especially if it is something really out their like ooicu812b4me rather than a common cocacola pw. Who knows could be for any reason with them.

Hmmn interesting. Note taken.
