LLC partner threatening to link suspended Ebay account
 

She had a personal seller account that she got suspended, and is using it as leverage to ruin the LLC account by linking ISPs. She's using the threat to demand a higher salary. Is there anything proactive I can do with Ebay to keep this from happening? She's also a family member. The business seller account has no problems and perfect feedback.

Change the password on the router, switch it off for half and hour to get a new IP and you're good to go.

You mean change MY IP address? So that her bad account and mine wouldn't be linked? So my original IP address disappears to Ebay, is that right?

I thought that because her computer and IP had signed into our good account in the past, that THAT would be enough to link and get our account suspended if she uses THAT computer and IP to sign into her bad account, am I wrong? Please let me know if you can, and thanks for the reply!

Let her threaten you, nothing will happen unless she's logging in as the same browser as you.

Maybe I'm misunderstanding something...if she logs into our business account on the same IP her suspended account was on won't that link the accounts and get me banned or suspended too?

This is getting weird, why does she have access to the business account if you suspect she's going to ruin it - or can't you stop her as she's a partner.

Sounds like you need to restructure your business, sharing IP's is the last of your worries.

Thanks for responding again! It's like this -she's a partner and so has had access to our business seller account in the past (no longer, I changed the password) and has logged into it on her devices. Apparently she has a separate computer and IP for a personal Ebay account that was some side gig, but that account got suspended for being awful (not sure what exactly but cursing out buyers in messages, and other abusive behavior, probably other violations). So she's threatening to log in to that suspended account on the devices and IPs she's used to access our business account to link them and make Ebay suspend the business account.

The only leverage this person has is the threat of taking down this account, it's our main source of revenue. So I'm just trying to find out if there's any way to protect our account from her doing this, or if it's pretty much hopeless.

Right, if she has no access to the business account then change the password and IP on the router and then she cant access the internet via the business router.

Problem solved.

If you are still worried you could go to the lengths of getting a new broadband provider with all new details under your complete control.

(as an aside, how is she in range of your router)

I'm explaining it wrong I think. She's not in the same state as me. Hasn't been for years. She's a business partner that no longer lives in my region. So our business account has been logged into from her state, her IP, her computer. She's saying that all she has to do is log in to her bad personal account from that IP she's used to log in to the business account and they'll be linked and our business account will come down. I don't understand how changing my IP now would matter since Ebay still has my old IPs in their records.

I speak from personal experience. Using same IP that alone doesn't link accounts. It's the browsers / cookies / computer foot print as well.

that's it , she will never get access to the ebay account again even after calling ebay and complaining

Thanks, the problem is not that she can sign into the business account anymore, it's that she can sign into her trashed account on the same IP that she's used for the business and supposedly link them and get the good account suspended.

Don't worry about it, now you have a new secure IP the old one alone would not be reason to suspend an account.

Just ignore any 'threats' and crack on.
