3 month old account was suspended after crossing $600
 

3 month old account was suspended after crossing $600 and email asking for full SSN. Account permanently suspended hours later. CS chat, email appeals failed.

ebay still has $100 of my money and wondering if it's worth risking providing anymore info. Any chance ebay will reverse decision if I enter Full SSN?

This is the process. The suspend your account, you supply valid tax information, the IRS confirms and they release your funds, allow you to collect payment and go on with your life.

They have no option but to suspend your account base on USA IRS laws.

You must provide them with a matching name and tax number of the account will remain suspended. This is for ALL third party processors in the USA. Amazon, ebay, paypal, stripe, square, facebook, etsy, etc.... It is the law.

Got it. I assumed they would explain that when I appealed and spoke with chat and emailed. I mentioned account was suspended before I could enter SSN, and they replied with sorry..."canned reply."

I thought if the account was salvageable, the reps would have said sure enter SSN.

Why don't they just ask for full SSN at the start, or when they see I'm listing and selling more than a couple items? I understand the IRS law and liability to eBay, but why not require full SSN from get go? SMH

eBays reps dont really understand how eBay works all that well they are just there for very generic questions.

Yup, wouldn't be surprised if a bot runs the appeals process and any emails with variations of "suspended," or other key words, triggers generic response.

It all sounds read from a script without addressing specific questions, "like will my account be restored if I enter my SSN?"

Waiting for one more payment to clear and will enter SSN.

It's ironic that you can default on a credit card company, and eventually sign up for another credit card with same co. With eBay, run afoul of their policies or bots, without costing them a cent and you're banned forever in their eyes.

Why not just hold onto my payments for 30 days and let me sell?

They are pretty outdated in the way they do things I know

Sometimes you can get a decent rep but its rarer and rarer these days!

Account is locked and cannot add SSN.

So much for being able to withdraw my money that is no longer on hold.

Yes, luckily canceled few orders that were packed and going to post office after account suspended. Otherwise, would have been $300-400.

Love the eBay Logic: You're a threat to our bottom line/brand, albeit you haven't cheated anyone. We will preemptively steal from you instead.
