Issues with competition

You guys have always been my ebay go-to. Sorry this is a bit off topic

After months of trial and error I've finally gotten myself back on ebay. Unfortunately for me a competitor noticed as well. Dude made a new profile just so he could buy my cheapest item and leave a bad review. Ive already reported him to ebay ...but are there any other ideas out there to deal with this fk wad? I'm open to anything really....regardless of uhhh...heh, morality?

there must be a function blocking buyers with feedback less than xxx

additionally manual review of all orders , not despatch anything to people who recently registered or those who have no feedback

I wish there was such a feature. However, there is only an options to block guys with feedback lower than 0.

Re: Issues with competition

at the least there used to be such a feature but even that can be easily circumvented by a motivated counterparty

the below measures should be sufficient to wear down most competitors who are looking to buy to leave negative feedbacks as it is unlikely they have lots of buyer accounts so at some point they would just run out of options and time to attack:

new account should be developed with cheap items with no risk of competition attacking them

once some time passes and selling history is accumulated the risky items are listed and manual review is done on all orders

any suspicious order is cancelled with explanation to buyer

all suspicious buyers are immediately added to blocked bidder list

with auctions running auctions are reviewed manually , suspicious bids are cancelled , suspicious bidders are added to blocked bidder list

text is added to description saying that one buyer may only purchase one item

repeat buyers are cancelled and added to blocked list as well unless there is no suspicion

He bought, rated, claimed he didn't get the item, then threatened to dispute with his bank...all before I even saw something sold lol

You can get the negative feedback removed by using emporiums negative feedback removal service in the accounts section as long as it hasn't been more than 90 days since you got the negative feedback they will be able to remove it for you.

You can also the block the buyer by copying their user name and typing “block eBay bidder” in google and that way they won’t be able to purchase anymore items from you and leave you bad feedback

Ebay will remove the feedback. They even told me the entire situation is sus. I guess I'm looking for non-conventional ways to get this dork to stop.

We all know what/how/where to report someone and have them removed...any sure fire ideas to stop one of us?

There is no way to block a buyer, nor is there any way to block them from leaving feedback. Your only course of action is to report them to ebay as you have done and hope they make the link to the culprit competitor.

That said, if they're good then making that link would be very difficult - I know if I wanted to play their game ebay might suspect it was me but not be able to prove it. Will they ban a seller on a hunch? I doubt it, the chances of their only being the two of you who are linked by product is slim. Lets hope they're sloppy and a link can be made.

I also wouldn't do as has been suggested and cancel the order, in time this would do more damage than the feedback would and play right into their hands by also adding defaults to your account.

All you can do is make it as awkward as possible for them:

*Buy it now with immediate payment by paypal only.
*Only Ship to the UK (assuming that's where you are based)

That's all I can think of TBH.

In my experience they get tired after a while, IMO it's a short term tactic to see if you'll bottle it.

If they don't get tired of their antics and it continues for some time and ebay aren't proactive then I guess you have the option of fighting fire with fire. Just make sure you're very disciplined and don't add insult to injury.

Much easier to simply add them via your 'block bidder' button on your seller hub/homepage. :)
