Ebay banned me - No reason given
 

My account was closed in 2022 from ebay. When I asked why, ebay would simply say something to the effect of: "This decision has been made to protect our brand." I had all positive feedback, and wasn't even selling that much on the platform. I tried creating a new account with no stealth-like protection, as I honestly was not doing anything wrong, to my knowledge. That was quickly detected and shut down.

Is there any way to find out why I was shut down, and any chance of opening the account back up for cases like this? I'm not overly concerned about it, as I just used ebay as a secondary selling platform. However, it would be nice to still have that platform, for items I'm not able to sell on Amazon.

Nope, that's been eBay's MO for decades and that's the reason why this forum and stealth guide are born.

So just move on and make multiple stealth accounts.

if the account was established there must be more story to this , for example previous warnings , item removals etc. as it is highly unlikely ebay would shut down an established account without any warnings whatsoever unless the account was not used for a while and suddenly started running high volumes

This was my own personal account, and only account. I had roughly 5 listings on it and was getting maybe 1-2 orders per week, of mainly one product. Had around 4-5 reviews (all poisitve). No shady stuff on my end.
One day account was just randomly shut down. I searched my email that was in response to me appealing, asking for reason why I was suspended. This was their response:

"We are getting in touch from eBay about your account. I understand that you want to know the reason of the suspension on your account and I appreciate your eagerness to appeal this, so let me look into this.

I've checked your account and can see it was suspended due to concerns about its safe use.

We want to keep eBay a safe and enjoyable place to buy and sell. We may suspend an account if we have cause for concern, and/or if we're unable to verify any information you've provided to us. Please bear in mind that as your account is suspended, you won't be able to buy or sell on eBay or register a new account.

"I understand if you want a detailed response with regards to the suspension of your account. I am afraid we cannot be more specific of the exact reasons for this suspension and I hope you understand that we are limited to the amount of information that we can give members when their accounts are restricted. By revealing further information, we could help member’s intent on circumventing our policies to avoid detection."

For your account there is no appeal for this decision. Although we will read any future appeals you send, we may not respond to your inquiries regarding this restriction."

That being said, since the ban, I have a new location (therefore new IP), new computer. Could I just create an account under my wife's name and put in our mutual bank account (has both my name and her name on it) and be okay?

Not sure if it is still allowed,a seller can include external link in his listing to further explain whatever he is selling

while some listings get away with it, if a buyer/bidder complains...there could be trouble

I just created a new account with a new IP, new email, new name. I didn't put any bank info yet, but listed one item. I was immediately shut down. What is the reason here? The item I'm listing perhaps? The item is a toy. I see another listing on ebay for the same item, just a different color.

Maybe.

Did you give ebay your SS number?

Pretty much these days, you need to give them everything. And if your name/phone doesnt match your credit profile, it is very hard.

On first item banns, appeal them, give ebay whatever they ask for and oftentimes all is well.

I gave them very little information. No SSN, no bank info, etc... And it was on a brand new IP identity. I'm really not sure.

Changing IP alone is not enough. You are still using the same device.

I know you got amazon ghost, I think you should actually read the stealth guide.

And I'd never sell anything without having the account completed first.

But the question remains - why was I banned, before I was ever even asked for SSN, bank account, other verification, etc... ?

You would need to provide steps about account creation as well as what you were selling [at least categorywise] for more insightful discussion - we can't divinate the details
