Ebay suspended my buyer account and returned my item in transit.
 

Hi guys. i made a purchase of a gaming laptop on my ebay buyer account. Everything was going fine and it was already out for delivery when ebay suspended my account out of the blue. I checked my item tracking and i think they kinda directed ups to return the item back to the seller cos that was what was shown on the tracking. I tried to file an item not received claim and the option to do that was no longer there again and they said i'm not eligible for the money back gaurantee.
so i waited for the item to get delivered back to the seller and i contacted them to request for my refund and they refused saying that i should contact my financial institution which was payoneer to request for my refund. i did so, and i received a mail from payoneer today saying that they can't do anything from their end and its ebay that is supposed to refund me my money. So guys, what should i do?

In summary, i purchased an item, account got suspended, item was returned back to seller from transit and ebay doesnt want to refund me. isn't that illegal?

Probably just have to live with the result. Talking about legal vs illegal has no use. If you have an eBay account from a merchant perspective and are suspended customers can open claims and have it decided in their favor just the same. That's how eBay operates. Once your account is suspended you basically void all your rights.

I think if you purchased an item that was a large amount and used Payoneer and you are in Nigeria, that ticked every box why you were suspended and shipping stopped.

I think your situation is not redeemable and a lesson to use a credit card for purchases from your country

what is the reason for your suspension?
Who requested UPS to return the package?Ebay or the seller?
Since the seller is the one who used UPS,I would think the seller is the one who asked UPS not to deliver the package,if so,once seller received the package,he should refund you,how much I dont know as UPS may charge a fee for return/
Since you are in Nigeria and using Payoneer which said nothing they can do,it is up to the seller if he is ethical to refund you

When Ebay suspended an account,it will also notify the seller (s) that the account has been suspended,so the seller in your case must have asked UPS to return the package.
if you have used your own credit card,like the other has suggested,you could file a chargeback for item not received,but you used Payoneer .
So now you have to wait till seller got the item back and see if he is willing to refund you.

You have been suspended,like the other said,you lose all your rights.
chargeback is with your cc issuer,INR is with Ebay.
Since you pay with Payoneer,you have t o t ake up the case with Payoneer and you said it has already said NO

Ebay does not suspend buyer account just because you do not sell on Ebay,and you have many buyer accounts suspended but you keep on trying?

When Ebay suspends a buyer account,it will email all the sellers ,it is up to the seller what to do,just because a buyer has been suspended by Ebay,does not mean he does not want the item he has already paid for.
But OP being in Nigeria,makes a seller nervous

when EBAY suspends you,it sends emails to your sellers letting them know you have been suspended,sell at your own risk,is the message.
So your seller asks UPS to return the package.
If you file chargeback with y our cc issuer,seller would have to fight it with no Ebay protection.
In your case,you did not use a credit card,you use it via Pioneer and it does not want to do anything for you.
Ebay must have found out your buyer account is no good.
Try contact the seller and ask him to reimburse you once he received the item back.

well, how do i file for a chargeback then? because i have no idea why ebay won't let me open an item not received claim.

many of my accounts do get suspended because i don't sell on ebay, i only buy. mostly find good deals there, then ship to a warehouse and sell em here in nigeria.
i normally use a nigerian account because i never really knewhow to create a usa ebay account. but i think i will start using stealth now hopefully it works as needed.

as nigerian you should open a UK or USA buyer account and then use mail forwarding to have the seller ship items locally

in this case you will not be suspended and you will just need to find reliable forwarding

FYI ebay did not instruct UPS to return the package to the seller, scammers want the parcel in transit AND their money back.

Did anyone really think they wanted to pay for a gaming laptop?

I wonder how many buyer accounts they've had suspended.

I hate seeing folk helping on threads like this, it should be deleted.

if the guy is for real they now know how to do it , if they are a scammer let it be ebay's problem , the seller should be protected anyway if they ship an expensive item properly

Finding ops situation hard to believe. As a high value item seller I've had many instances where people from questionable locations buy an item, I send it via DPD or UPS and then a charge back kicks in. I then have to quickly call DPD or UPS and try and get the item back.

The OP may have purchased an item through the Global Shipping Program and eBay may have stopped the sale for reasons only known to them, the seller sends the package to an eBay handling location, in the USA it is in Kentucky, where there is a UPS international hub which then gets shipped on.

you don't understand, its something i haven't experienced before and i have been using ebay since september last year.
i dont use it for scams what i do is deal hunting, i find good laptop deals there and then use freight fowarding to send to nigeria to sell.
i think i get suspended because i use a nigerian account and i make lots of expensive purchases monthly?
But it was suprising when i got a suspension message and item in transit was returned and i couldnt do ****.
