New ebay stealth account was banned after listing an item
 

so I made a stealth account where I used a new sim card, new address, monzo card, and new email address the account was made successfully and I had no issues. I made a listing of some cheap cargo trousers a week later and then I got this email.

"We wanted to let you know that you have been temporarily restricted from selling and buying on eBay because of concerns about your seller account. This must be frustrating, but measures like these help keep our marketplace safe for everyone.

Here’s what you should do
Please get in touch as soon as you can by going to the Help & Contact page below and selecting Contact Us. We’ll just need to ask you a few questions to verify your account so you can get back up and running again. If we don’t hear from you within 7 days, your account may be at risk of being suspended."

I got the call from them answered some questions to confirm my account, and I said I was a private seller when asked and then I was told that my account will be permanently banned and I cant use it to buy or sell and I should go somewhere else.

Does anyone know what I did wrong I thought I was in the clear. I have a few ideas why I got banned:

- my name on my monzo card was my real name but the name on my ebay account was different and when I entered the details of my monzo card into ebay I used my different name

- my monzo card has my real home address but my ebay account has a different address

- I would use a hotspot on my phone to go on to ebay on my laptop and enter my stealth account with the new IP Address on my laptop but I have used my phone and laptop to access my older accounts which have been banned as I like to buy stuff on eBay however I would access my old account on an another IP address.

So those are the reasons why I may have been banned does anyone else know why I couldve been banned?

what address did you use for registering the account? like post office box or other

most new accounts are suspended , they look at what you list and do not see why they need you

you open an account , list 10-20 items from your home you will have better chances of not getting suspended

Interesting this happened on one account...was insta banned....never figured out why...but either it was the fact that i had a gift card listed on the account i had just opened for 200 bucks which i never got back... or maybe that person had bee. Banned before?

Im new to this world and this is my experience also, Ive had 4 suspensions on 4 different account within hours of listing, (and to the best of my knowledge have followed the stealth guides correctly) HOWEVER requesting a call and talking to the trust and safety team about basic things has resulted in a reinstatement in them all

even if reinstated most of these new accounts get a second suspension within a few weeks

I suspect that you created the new eBay accounts using the same browser without clearing any eBay cookies, that will get you an instant ban upon listing. I suspect also that the name and address on the new account could not be verified by eBay by them doing a soft credit check to see if it is a real name and address.

Only by sticking to good stealth techniques will an account be successfully created.

really dont know if thats true since if I listed 10 items of clothing I would be amongst the thousands who sell clothes why would I need to prove myself but thanks nonetheless

before changing my IP address I would clear my browser history on both my phone and laptop and then use the new IP address and go into my stealth account.

so should I make a new account where the name and address match and also I got a new monzo card by freezing my old one will that be fine or should I just make a new monzo account too?

My experience is that you should warm up the account before creating a listing, don't create a listing right after creating the account.

i prefer a few weeks of bidding/buying before doing an actual listing

ebay look for new sellers who bring in money , if you show from the start you are worth it you will have higher chances of success

I know sellers who start a business account with active selling and do not get suspended while warming up on one item per month gets you kicked out quickly

and of course this is a problem for all kinds of fraudsters because they do not want to do active selling with lots of items and positive feedback from buyers

I always warm up a new account by plenty of page views on eBay over a couple of weeks, then make some purchases over another coupe of weeks, then an auction of an item starting at $0.99. Also offer local pickup.

I have never had an account suspended using this method.

So first thing here to ask is were you adding the card or the bank account itself?

This initial suspension will just be for an ID request or verifying what your trying to sell
