Ebay suspended me because they had earlier suspended my father!
 

I was wondering if anyone could help with the following problem, or point me in the right direction.

I have been a member of ebay for many users under the username 'kneale9'. Unexpectedly, on 19 September I tried to log on to ebay's website and it advised me that I had been suspended " because our records indicate that it is associated with the following currently suspended account: fazackerley_faragher".

'fazackerley_faragher' was my father's account and he was suspended around a year ago and I have no association with that account at all. I have emailed ebay on numerous occasions stating that it wasn't my account, but they always say that the two accounts share certain information, but they can not tell me what they share. I know for a fact that they will share the same surname (he is my father) and the same address as we all live in the same house! Coincidentally, I am moving into my own apartment soon, which would have probably stopped this whole thing from happening in the first place, but I cannot change my address now as I am suspended. Nothing else would be the same, he is 25 years older than me!

They have told me that I must email them from the address registered for 'fazackerley_faragher', but I can't because it wasn't my account and I don't have access to my father's email or that account. I have emailed them several times but keep getting the same robotic answers and after my fifth or sixth email they stopped replying altogether!

HI- Had same with my mons acct- what they will want- is your drivers license + usualy a utility bill in your name at your registered address faxed in, then they will lift the restriction (USUALLY)...then ALWAYS remember to clear cookies etc.

They haven't even asked for them, maybe they only do that in the US? I'll send them another email but they haven't bothered replying to my last few.

HI- They asked for this from me, when i filled out the APPEAL for suspension form, They do not make it easy to find it.. think it was a link ro something, maybe a REPLY to, within ebay, my messages, not your own email acct..

On eBay, you're guilty until proven innocent! in the true spirit of democracy ...

Kneal... IMO, it's a lost cause. Despite 100% positive feedback, I was suspended due to "association" with my daughters suspended account. Same surname and address. Months of appeals through ebay, including faxing them very personal info such as my drivers license and credit card into. Nada! I even filed a complaint through the California BBB. 2 appeals, but again nada. Ebay will stick to their policy of association within the same household. It sucks, but it's in the user agreement. Ebay needs some competition to wake them up.

It would be easier to get a new account - I was linked to an account that wasn't mine and was someone I had never heard of. They even sold something comepletely different than what I did so it didn't make any sense to me. A few weeks later a friend of mine in a town about 50 miles away - was linked to that same account. I think it's an account ebay will link you to just to have someone to link you to. It's probably a ⊗⊗⊗⊗ account!

That account sold DVD's and VHS tapes. ???

Good luck - I know the feeling of trying to log in and getting that suspension message. :(
