Changing bank on perma suspended eBay account
 

Hello everyone,

Long story short my account got permanently suspended. The bank account that is linked to eBay got also suspended. eBay just released my payout, but the bank of course does not accept it and reverts the transfer.

I tried contacting eBay and was told that i cannot change any details on suspended account therefore i should instead resolve issues with the bank, but bank does not cooperate either.

Anyone been in similar situation? Is there anything that can be done or am i supposed to say goodbye to my money? Can it be that eBay will just keep the ammount for themselves??

Your bank closed your account, this is a big red flag.

What is it that you were doing on eBay and with the bank?

Explain in detail so we have a bigger picture

DId you ask if Ebay can send you a check?
is your name on the Ebay account stealth or yours?

Not happening. When was the last time ebay sent checks? I can't remember when they did and certainly not since Managed Payments was introduced.

I could be wrong, but I don't think they do that anymore. MO and checks are a thing of the past, but do double check and confirm if I'm wrong.

The account was stealth.

No idea why they decided to close my bank account, to be honest since there was no transactions beforehand. I guess detail discrepancy or something like that, nothing specific was said to me.

And my ebay got suspended most likely because of too fast growth, it is not like they say anything more either. I tried lifting the suspension and failed.

Their customer support is terrible, i've been trying to explain them via e-mail for few days now, but the responses are very slow and automated, seems like they do not even read what i say.

This is weird that they do not send payout to an alternative bank account, because they already released the payment, but my bank just reverted it, so the money is with eBay still.

Since your account has been suspended,you cant add any new information to it like adding a new bank account,may be keep bugging them and see if they will let you.
Ebay used to accept checks in early days,we just mail them a check at the end of the month,I am sure Pierre writes checks too in his apartment,but those days are history.
how much is involved?

I have tried to power through their terms & conditions, but could not find anything related to my problem. Are they actually allowed to just keep the money in this situation? Maybe someone of you know how i would be able to contact a more relevant department for this issue?

Okay, got a final response. They said they will follow escheatment process.

The names that sign off on emails? Difficult to say - I would guess they are real since eb has to maintain some form of customer service transparency...

I'd say they are nowadays, the practice of using native names to disguise their Asian outsourcing seems to be gone as they no longer bother nor need to try and hide this practice.

But in the crazy world we now live in where you can call yourself whatever you want and identify as goldfish one day and a pine-cone the next, does it really matter?

Ebay does write checks ,to suppliers,vendors and contractors and Payroll checks.

Once they have replied to your support message on your suspended account, I don't think you will receive another clear answer for another message
Even with chat, They will simply close the chat on you

Feels like i tried everything. Approaching Politely, With fingers raised, calmly etc.
What i haven't tried is bribing, but i doubt it would work :D

You will be dealing with low level customer service clerk,they follow the rules and they cant make exception of giving you a check and it is not their fault your bank account was closed.

Escheatment process after 3 years. Best bet is to keep calling every so often hoping to get a friendly agent to actually help you update bank account. It has happened

Update:

2 months later ebay tried sending funds to non existant bank account again. This time, they tried for 7 days. I've called customer support few times again and what inspired me to write this update is that they actually now are saying that my funds are basically in an infinite loop.

2 monthgs ago they were talking about escheatment process and now even that is out of the question, nice. One of them actually said something like that:

CS: "We legally cannot keep your funds so we will be trying to send it to your bank account"
ME: "You legally cannot keep them, but also you will not help me get them back?"
CS: "Right... Sorry..."

Well that would be just stupid to use a non existant account, dont you think?

I was just unfortunate that bank has decided to close my account around same time as ebay got suspended.

I dont know if Paypal still does,but you can ask a bank check for a small fee mailed to your regIstered address (USA)
