Finding out why your account has been suspended!
 

Under the Data Protection Act 2018 you have Right of access by the data subject on all personal information that eBay have.

I do not know how much info they will impart but if they suspend your selling account and the info is real and was done for no reason, then they should disclose that.

Maybe somebody has done that in the UK and if so what info was given out, or perhaps somebody should try it.

They have to reply within 30 days in writing to any request.

I don't think it works that way

Usually Internet memos are not going to be included in a data request

I have just been through a course on data management and UK and international data transfer and laws surrounding it and they are supposed to give you everything that is recorded about you. The only exemptions is protected information such as health records.

As they are data controllers failure to produce all information about you that they hold, including notes, they can be fined into the millions of pounds.

All information they hold about you yes but my understanding is that doesn't extend to reasoning for internal business decisions

Maybe I am wrong.

As James has said, they will only disclose the basic information they hold ie name, address, dob, etc.

They do not discuss / disclose the reasons for their risk / fraud decisions in case it helps people to circumvent them in future.

It's easy to request your ebay data. The option is within My Ebay - Account - Personal Information & Privacy - Request your eBay data.

in many instances they don't know why an account was suspended as no one investigated anything , suspension was either done by bot or manually after it had initially been flagged

from understand, there's always a reason/cause - whether or not it's 100% proper or debatable - either way rarely will details will be given.

They never suspend and account for no reason, they always give you one, or will have one recorded.

Normally it's the 'risk to the community' spiel and I reckon that's all you'd get from them if pushed. What good would it be to know this?

No it's not.

IMO they do not suspend accounts for 'no reason' and my point was if you pressed them for a reason and they were obliged to give one they would say 'risk to the community', they would not say 'no reason'.

That is a generic term applied to everyone. They do not share the exact reason the agent decided it, but there is always something. I'm sure you know that. Call in and say the same thing they'll respond back by saying "we do not share this information because it can be used by dishonest actors etc".
