| | | Jingling2017 | 10-12-2024 09:11 AM | Need help, EIN question Ok, so I added my bank but the USA EIN is taking forever to get here. So long in fact that I got halted to sell on the platform until it is added.
So I got the red banner death notice that said for me to verify myself.
It is asking for
Name
Address
Date of birth
EIN number
So the question is do I temporarily change my eBay stealth to my real name and address and use my date of birth with the EIN number I get from the IRS or do I leave the stealth info , put my date of birth and the EIN number?
Thank you so much in advance for any nuggets of wisdom guys!
What piece do they verify and changing the info shouldn't be a red flag on eBay correct ? They verify it and then I change it back? |
| solefoodbk | 10-17-2024 02:11 AM | Re: Need help, EIN question I don't fully understand why the EIN is taking long. You can pay on LegalZoom and it's done within 1-2 days.
Assuming you are upgrading your old account to work with managed payments, you should not change anything on your account. Go through the process as normal, add your EIN, personal information with SSN, and bank account. Once its processed your old information that is stealth will be removed, and you'll only see the managed payments info. After that if you need to update address I would do so, however I would only change information if you have too.
Any trust & safety person will have a record of your updated information. If you happened to get a MC011, that is an obvious red flag for anyone looking at your account.
It is really smart to think long term with eBay. If you don't and screw up, what happens next? You will have to make another account and take even LONGER to get that working. This is something I struggled with since 2020 myself. If you ever have doubts over doing something ALWAYS pick the slowest method when it comes to stealth. |

So I have my bank added as my real bank.

This is a stealth account so there won't be a social number just an EIN hopefully.
To get verified I need the
Name
Address
Date of birth
EIN.
To not lose the account and withdraw funds.
I was going to change the name to the name on the EIN, leave the address alone and put in my real date of birth and the new EIN number.
Is there a better way to approach this? |

Use your real name, real SSN, real DOB, and business information. It does not matter your account was stealth, when you upgrade it is no longer stealth anymore.
I can state as a matter of fact I've upgraded an account made pre 2019, got MC011 and still passed the ID check with my real ID. So even though I made this account under XXX name, when I upgraded to managed payments it was under my real name. |

Didn't change the address | And no issue with changing the info? Wow |
| vettefever17 | 01-28-2025 06:26 AM | Re: Need help, EIN question This is very interesting. Something flagged that system. I would ponder what caused that in the future.
My recently created account had no major stops of verification. But something tells me based on your post that you used an EIN and you mention a passport. Did you not use a back-end SSN? And why a passport if you're in the US? I'm leaning the flag has something to do with this.
Edit- I realized you moved around information. Of course, that will cause a flag. The EIN is irrelevant at this point. There will always be an SSN on the backend as far as I've studied. |

That goes against anything we all worry about. What you are saying is its still a free-for-all. | | All times are GMT -5. The time now is 12:54 PM. | |
