How does eBay verify people's identity outside the USA? AVS doesn't work there.

Only about half Canada credit cards have working AVS and I heard AVS worked in the UK but I've never seen it.

How does eBay verify people's identity outside the USA when AVS doesn't work there so they can't do an AVS-based credit card check?

I heard Europe had some credit card system that verified like AVS but I think it used something else instead.

They can't. That's why I have 5+ active accounts all in different names. Wohaaaa :D

How does ebay verify US people using VCC. LOL.. I'm sure this country is ahead of the world when it comes to verifying people...

And I hear eBay is soon going to require social security numbers and that's after making people fax in merchant account dox. God, eBay really hates their American customers (their customers are the sellers).

If you use Paypal at any point to accept payment for an eBay auction, they will link the PP and eBay accounts whether or not you want them to.

yea but selling as a foreign seller won't get as much sales. I mean, guess it depends on what category of items you are selling.

People do not like to wait 10 days for things

Sometimes they do, sometimes not. The faster I start selling the more likely. I have accounts 30+ days old that have ⊗⊗⊗⊗ phone numbers where I never get the request to confirm it.

And as for international sellers not getting sales, that's crap. I sell about 10-15 items per day for a total of at least $500-$800 without problems. Even with zero feedback accounts.

getting sales comes down to product, price, trust, shipping time and method of payment accepted.

Yep, I do. Even just to sell on my local site I need to. And by linking PayPal, I also need to accept it as a payment method.

you cant only choose merchant account?

the paypal you link to the ebay account has to be the same infos with ebay?

I think the SSN is more Uncle Sam wanting his cut of online sales. My seasonal job is taxes and it has been coming for awhile.
