Ebay called......

Normally when ebay calls, they provide with a pin#. After you get the pin#, you enter it to verify. Now they are getting tricky. They ask you to press the "#" key before they provide you with the pin# which means that you cannot get the pin# if you are using the AOL free phone #. What can I do? Please PM me. Thanks.

ivegotinfo 12-07-2007 08:02 PM

i got the call yesterday, they asked me to press 9!
so best bet is use a virtual phone number

You can still use the AIM free phone # (which by the way, isn't free anymore for new customers).. just make sure to answer the call through the AIM application interface.

And yet they let buyers bid on items just to leave negs and despite the phone number being obviously ⊗⊗⊗⊗, eBay won't take it off.

There are even various phone numbers that always ring busy which I once had a person set that as their phone number to NPB then bid to neg, though I wouldn't use a always-rings-busy number for seller accounts since likely lots of previous people have used those as those numbers.

I dont see how it would benefit them. Virtually all PC-to-Phone applications these days have a keypad. Its pointless. I just verified a number yesterday and they left it on my voicemail, so I assume they're either not doing this for everyone or just for US accounts.

Since when does ebay call you?

ebayhateluv 12-09-2007 03:55 PM

Theyre Verifying New Accts--- out f 60 accts created since august- i have received 14 phone calls, so thats about 25%--they cut your listings first-then call-after you take the call-you enter the 4 digit pin-then you must relist everything....BUT-the accts still not totally safe- 2 of the accts are now gone.(about 2 weeks after he verif call-got abusing ebay susp)..

Ballsack 12-09-2007 04:46 PM

You've created 60 accts? Jesus.

rond100 12-09-2007 07:29 PM

I've created at least that many since August. Some of us have large quantities of stuff to moved and eBay is the best source. Still I do my best for the customer regardless of account status.

I didn't know that you had to verify the phone number- makes sense
